Great Sword is the only thing that can effectively hit the Sweet Spot. It can also be reached by the Switch Axe overhead slash, the Long Sword overhead slash, and the SnS jump attack, but none of those are as damaging as the GS.

The armor skill "Fortify" increases your attack power by roughly 10% with every death. That along with Adrenaline+2 allows me to get my attack as high as it is.

I've recently started playing this game again and it feels soooo nostalgic. The controls could be greatly improved, but it still is a lot of fun. I was 8 when I first played this and a lot of MH games have gone through my hands, I can't wait to get farther than what I did at the time and relive those memories

@name8895 Going for the mouth will actually do less damage. While it does take more damage, the time necessary to run into the mouth and get into position decreasing your output. You can get more charges by just staying at the chin and neck.

Anguish will deal the most damage, but you could use any one-slotted Great Sword if you wanted.

man I really miss tri... never could beat jhen mohran. got stuck there because I couldn't get any back up from random players in the game. tried to solo it so many times I lost count and failed each time :(. don't know if I could have done anything differently to win but I tried barrel bombs, and demon drug I was a lance user. eventually I Gave up for about a year, and when I came back the servers we're gone and now I'll never even get another chance to fight jhen.

A few people have done heroics runs of Jhen, but it only gets down to about 11 minutes.

It's much easier to see how Tri's time difference works by watching faster timed videos. Speedruns, sub 10 minute solos, etc. It makes it much more obvious how the timer works.

I would lose sharpness points; the best possible set can only go to AUM. There is another way to get the same skills, but it requires a much more rare of a charm.

The angle of the charge would not hit in the appropriate spot, as well as constantly rolling to get out of the way is far from useful. The damage done by smash charge is only a little larger than the standard; and no worth it in this kind of situation.

I was gonna suggest the triple nator approach also. With as many times as you can stagger him, it should be a breeze for you to get him twice. And even if it's not that major of a difference. that might still be a few seconds shaved off your record. But far be it from me to tell you how to do your thing. :p If you do attempt it, would love to see the run and time. Nice video and hunt.

Yeah :P The Tri clock is a little fast, it adds something like 7 seconds per minute, but the system in the community is to go by the ingame clock. Nobody wants to be that guy who starts his own clock once he lands the first hit *cough*

wow, from social dissonance i learned that smash charges are really nice! so when i faught jhen i when aroung smash charging him till he died, my pattern was lv 3 charge-slap-lv3 smash charge- roll. but i'll keep ur point in mind next time i go after him. do backswings hit the appropriate spot?

Buddy, you need to get your terminology right. For starters, this is Tri, not 3U. The Tri jhen has no "bug," they simply made his crack hitzone reach far higher in his design. There's a spot exactly like it on his lower back as well. Since Tri, the hitzone has been decreased both in size and in overall damage. It's gone in p3rd, and it's gone in both versions of 3U. People these days >_>

@@Riadurrohman Purple in Highrank isnt realy a given. Many G-Rank Weapons never reach Purple. Most Players assume Purple is G-Rank Exclusive, and white is Highrank Exclusive. Thats not the case, but Purple for Highrank is still a novelty.

well he used a bug to deal the most dmg. in mh3u you cant hit the missing crack over and over again to get all the damage, since its a bug in tri which has been removed in 3u

The triple dragonator strategy doesn't make that major of a difference, and if you're doing it right Jhen will never even reach the dragonator in the Final Showdown.

buddy you should've read on whom i was answering. the guy said that hes having trouble in mh3u ! so i simply pointed out that doing it this way is impossible. the hitzone has been made far to big back in tri, it shouldn't be possible to get the weakpoint hits after breaking the crack, which has been corrected in 3u where it is still possible to hit the cracks for more damage. people these days

Not really. I hate to break it to you, but a lot of the things Socialdissonance said in his original tutorials are not true; incredibly wrong, in fact. When it comes to great swording, it's best to always stick with the charges. Backswings and such are rarely ever useful, and severely under damage. Especially in the case of Jhen's spine, you'd be dealing a lot more damage to that area by sticking with the charges.
