MH Wilds Beta was a mess...

the dev's said that the beta was months behind what the full version was, like 50 something updates behind and the full game is far more optimized as the game is basically done and they are just polishing it now. the new beta wont change any of it as they have stated and display on the website it will be the same build as previous beta, next to nothing will be changed except unlocking gipsreos for hunting. but im still looking forward to it nontheless.

This content is far too late, fanbase already know there's zero optimization on the beta, they made it just for stress test the servers, it's important because it's the first time they doing a cross-play. The beta can run, even on Steamdeck at horrible fps, if GPU don't have enough vram it automatically adjust to lowest textures (and no way to change them) with polygon monsters too, there also really bad performance on 10 and 20 nvidia series cards even if those are highend equal to low-mid 30 40 cards which can run the game at playable fps, which telling there's zero optimitzation were made. The final build already much better, sadly the next beta will be this same build slightly updated because they don't have enough time and resources to create a new beta build right now, they're fully focused on the main game.

though mind you i know that my pc with a 1080+7700k ran at 720 30fps or 1080p 20fps, and i got a new computer it will be fun to test the difference when compared to a 7800XT and 9800X3D

you gotta understand that this is a next gen game which means it requires next gen parts you cant just hate a game for expanding on its quality.

I don't mean to be rude here but THIS isn't exactly quality. I get that it's a beta and requires more polishing but that's no excuse for the official game recommendations to have ANYTHING TO DO WITH frame generation or DLSS (DLSS is okay in my eyes but that's really still no excuse for frame gen.). Optimizations definitely could have been done as Devil May Cry 5 and Monster Hunter Rise run in the same engine. Different games, I know as none of them intend on following an open world formula but this seems to be a trend with modern games so far. Plus it will most likely launch with DRM thus chugging the performance down some more. Using the excuse of next gen game doesn't exactly qualify here as this game really doesn't look next gen... at all. It looks like if it was properly optimized it could definitely run on mid spec hardware but that isn't the case. I hope launch is ultimately more optimized as I'd really like to have a pleasant experience with the game on my current hardware. Essentially making all PC players buy a graphics card worth 300$ to run this game at it's recommended specs is absolutely dreadful. Not to mention the fact that it also had issues on consoles as well? Yeah... this ain't looking too hot.

@@OsakaWagyu Critics are important to know the general direction a game is taking, and what people think of it. Saying the games is next gen and need next gen parts is an excuse for lazy developing. And the game DO have an optimization problem. You have the necessary parts to run it at maximum specs, good for you. But that does not erase the fact that it is terribly optimized. And saying "... you are really confident the game will be ass" is not an argument, maybe the game will be incredible, but it will at least deter me from buying it. And don't hit me with the graphics are getting more advances so they need more computational power or similar. Because they are not, modern games use several solutions for "mimicking" good graphics and hide optimization issues. Nevertheless, a lot of people realize that they are looking more a more ugly since they use solutions like occlusion that blurs image. So what exactly is next gen in your argument? Because graphics sure aren't.

@OsakaWagyu No, im actually hoping that the experience on release will be really good. I really enjoy Monster Hunter, but the performance we've seen so far has been subpar. I'm gonna hop on the beta 2 to get a feel for the game, but as we've already heard... No performance fixes. That doesn't make me skeptical but I still want to hope that the game runs pretty okay on my current hardware... I just wish more games today are better optimized because its embarrassing that games today can look slightly worse compared to some titles released in 2010s and we still call them "next gen." Being on next gen hardware is no excuse for bad performance.

First, is a critic, and they are valid. Not all people have to have the same opinion on something. Nevertheless, this game DO have optimization issues. And saying is due to next gen, is an excuse to lazy developing. Monster hunter world is an example in which modders increase the game performance by A LOT, showing is about spaghetti code being a thing. Second, I would like to ask what do you mean by next gen and technically complex. Because from my understanding, game mechanics and gameplay is not a big impact in how the game performance is, unless you have like a lot of particles flying around from attacks. So next gen usually leaves graphics, yet the developer is saying that you should use aid tools that worsen your graphics quality to play the game at an acceptable range of 30 FPS ( which is not acceptable, is trash). Doesn't that defy the argument?

"beta from last year" it was two months ago. lets be for real. reviews like this are valid because it can always reflect what the base game will be when it is out. yes, its a beta, but it is still concerning that it is running like this. me and my friends have beefy computers and our experiences were not too far off from this guys. it was a glitchy, pixelated stuttery mess that couldnt get over 40-50 fps.
