if you need to craft shit on the field cos u ran out (life powders, potions, ammo, etc.). because some of these items have low combine rates, people bring books so they dont make heaps of garbage

Senbunsakura001 Combining items in the field lets you bring more of items you're normally limited to. Let's use a simple example and say Mega Potions. You can normally only bring 10, but you can also bring 10 Honey and 10 normal Potions to effectively have 20 Mega Potions if you combine them in the field. Similarly, rarer items like Ancient Potions, Traps and Farcasters also have a very low carry quantity, while being very useful, so being able to Combine them is useful.

i see him constantly using his phial discharges but never his super/uber discharge where you basicly slam the ground with a huge shockwave, while as far as i know that basicly always happens when the shield is charged. how is he doing that?

Wopsie When you go for the discharge, hold back and hit x (I tend to mash x so it doesn't accidentally misread), the shield part will slide up the blade, and you should do the normal discharge, not the full discharge.

Guard points are animations during, before, or after an attack where it positions your shield in front of your character. e.g. When you press R+X to morph to axe, your shield will be in front of you before you go into axe mode. This puts you in a guard point.

This puts you in a guard point." Had to edit my response a few minutes after I made it. LOL I try to avoid commenting after a 12-hour shift. BTW, the example I gave is the easiest guard point to pull as shown by Chris, because you can actually time it when a monster attack. The other guard points are harder to time, since you have to attack before you get a guard point like when you spin with SnS or when you slice upwards with SnS.

Pylfer The skill cap to doing this effectively and regularly is high. You can see that missing just two would've killed him. The uploader is obviously incredibly accurate, so he makes it appear OP. You can tell who's good at GPs and who isn't.

Delicious Anatomy its an undeniable fact that the weapon 'is' op, it has way too many tools on top of good stats. 5G will definetly nerf them, be it the phial-dmg or the sharpness-loss on blocks/gp's i recon

also another thing that bothers me is how is he able to use guard point straight from guarding? ie at around 2:10 in he does the regular guard as he runs through him. however he guards the next charges but instead of throwin the shield behind him to transform into the axe, he kept it infront of him to use guard point. im not sure if people will understand what im talking about but those who use charge blade/axe might understand me

If you press R + X at the same time (don't press R first) while standing still, you hold the shield in front of you just before transforming into the axe, instead of behind you.

Everytime i have the shield boost i do the super burst finisher and my shield discharges... what to press to do just the normal finisher with the result that i still have the shield boost after it?

To do a normal Super Burst hold "back" (Compared to your character) and press X during the beginning of the Ultra Burst. I tend to mash X to make super sure it works.

After a regular block or gp, you have the choice of dodging, X which will let you go into overhead swing axe mode, or X+A into burst 3 (or ultra). You can also press R after going into burst 3 to charge your shield safely.

DarklordAbraxas well, you don't have to do the shield thrust. I don't think the shield thrust will come out. Both Shield thrust and the Super Amped Phial Burst are X+A so they programmed the SAP Burst to come out instead.

vernon daley I am not exactly sure what kind of point you are trying to make. I said you combo into the amped by pressing x+a after guard points, or shield trusts. Which is a fact. In fact shield trusts are the easiest way to get to the amped in SnS mode, since you can combo into the thrust after pretty much any attack and is one of the most useful attacks the CB has.

If you go straight into the transformation (So R+X at the same time) you'll get a guard point. It's guarding before switching that doesn't give you a guard point.

vernon daley Most likely. It's somewhat difficult to do it that way, though, since if you don't do it just right you'll guard _just_ before you try to transform. Takes a bit of practice to get it that way. Alternatively, you can press the "kick" button (Either by touchscreen or start if you have it mapped that way) to easily transform.

Crazy Jay I have trained myself to press the buttons so I won't be pressing the transformation button the the touch screen. I can say that I have gotten better at Guard pointing since my last comment.

DuwMinh Nah doubt it it requires true mastering of the weapon to reach what you see here. Go online have a look 9.5/10 don't play like this, they can't. But just like all weapons you master it it becomes Super good. I've seen some hunting horn solo's just damn all the ko's.

Typho skarm True that. Weapon mastery makes the weapon look OP. But I think DuwMinh 's point is that the CB is almost too versatile. You can roll while unsheathed. You can guard / sidestep, which is great for sticking close and maintaining DPS. You've got long range axe mode. A couple of burst damage/status dealing moves. Almost insta counter/block moves, whose knockback animations can be dodge/attack cancelled. Quick ESP attacks. And probably a couple more I don't know. I'm still sticking with my GL though. I love my gun on a stick. XD

Why nerf when it takes skill, I have only seen 3 uploaders in youtube with successfull GP throughout a fight in High Rank/G... It's not like it's widely used... I'd nerf the jump attacks from Insect Glaive first... less chance to takedown a monster for example.

The duration of the smoke effect matches the duration of of your boosts from might pills/seeds and such. So it tells you when you no longer have their effects.

qari Olandesca it counters a like lance too after you charge your shield. the amount of KO damage is obscene with elemental discharges.

jojobruin It's a crazy strong weapon, but it requires more dexterity in the hands and careful timing than either of those other weapons. It's also not QUITE as good at stunning as hammer (unless you've mastered guard points, and even then that's more for monsters who have a lot of head-first attacks like Diablos. Although the first time I killed a Seregios with a guard point block it was REALLY satisfying!) nor is it as good defensively as the lance (even if you've mastered guard points, there will still be times when you botch the timing or misread a move). But it's so good at both things that mastering it gives you the tools to fight pretty much anything.

Dragunity69 Speedrunning. It cancels the animation for using the dash juice and saves a second or two. the felvine bomb also gives you a buff icon which can be used to time certain buff durations.
