We took an Alaskan cruise in May and it was absolutely beautiful. Yes it can get cold. Gorgeous pictures. I look forward to watching your family adventure blogs. You cover everything. Thanks for that. It gives you a real sense of being there. Happy cruising.

RacQuelle, your expression when you thought that boat was gonna be your excursion boat... you said "that's not happening!" Maaan... that was priceless! That pilot boat process was nice to watch though! Those views are gorgeous!

I wish they had the Indian restaurant on every ship! It was the best thing about Carnival Splendor!

So fun! I’m seriously looking into an Alaskan cruise now. I might make it a girls trip though to celebrate my 40th because every excursion I want to do is very expensive and my kids are even younger than yours. I share the same sentiment that they would not appreciate it. Lol
@MHFamilyAdventures2 жыл бұрын
You should definitely do it! Our kids enjoyed Alaska but I definitely think they like Caribbean cruises better. The excursions can be crazy expensive! In hindsight we should have also left Jo’ and Drew on the ship during whale watching I. Hoonah because they weren’t interested in it lol.

@@MHFamilyAdventures this is great to know!! Yeah my kids are 3, 7 and 10 right now. I can def see then wasting my money! 🤣🤣 But I would LOVE to see some whales and dogsledding. So we will stick to Disney carribean with them (booked) and plan for Alaska as a long awaited girls trip. Lol

The Secret deck is not so Secret lol but this is so beautiful
@MHFamilyAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Ha ha. Yes I know. For the average cruiser like us it isn’t a secret but a lot of people aren’t familiar with the decks at the front of the ship.

Now they know most people only come for the mimosas lol

This was crazy what I want to know is who put the luggage in the cabin if the person never got on wow
@MHFamilyAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing the room stewards put it up. Not sure if they get notification that someone didn’t get onboard or not. But once you drop your bags off with the porters, there is no getting the luggage back til after the cruise. I just sent didn’t think they’d store the luggage in the cabin like that! It’s definitely concerning because if it were someone else, they might’ve gone through the suitcase.

I would love to do this but my hubby is from the island and is not too keen on the cold weather. This may have to turn into an all girls trip. 😁

When you show the hubby all your pics and videos he will definitely have some regrets lol! The weather wasn’t too bad in July. Mid 50s to mid 70s for the most part. It can be rainy in July from what I’ve heard but we lucked up this time!

So exactly what was happening with the pilot boat coming to the ship? I heard you say, there’s the captain and something about he got wet, have to change clothes but I still not sure what was happening?
@MHFamilyAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Very good question and I probably should have elaborated more! So for every port, there is a local pilot or captain that gets on the ship and takes over the ship. They do this because the local pilots/captains are experts in the waterways where they live. So they actually sail the ship. Once the ship is out of the port area or where it could be shallow or contain reefs, the local pilot will get back on the pilot boat and go home. So the guys you saw hoping off the pilot boat live in Alaska and get on the ships briefly to help navigate in to the fjords. This happens at most ports. I’ve seen lots of pilot boats but never had a chance to see the pilot actually get on the ship. Hope this makes sense.

@@MHFamilyAdventures Wow!!! Thanks for explaining! I think that’s interesting and I’ll be looking out for this on future cruises.

I’ve never been on a secret deck. I’ve wanted to be on it during sailaway or approaching a port. You guys had such spectacular views!
