at 6 :13 I accidentally left in the bit saying "he only does it after a charge"
it only seemed that way to me until I fought him more, to clarify, he mostly does it after a charge, but can do it after any move. He doesn't seem to do it otherwise, though I guess if he's not turning towards you, he's doing a move, and if you're not behind him, he wouldn't use it, so...
Also, I'd highly recommend not bringing a lance to this fight.

Gotta say, the bit where you recapped all of the past hunts was pretty cool. It was kinda like all of the past monsters were basically a tutorial and blangonga was the first "real" monster you end up fighting. Guides are becoming more thorough as well. Keep up the good work.

Yeah :D I had an idea about showing similar moves and how they relate to blangonga (and other monsters etc) and when I put Proof of a Hero over it... it felt pretty magical 😅😅😅 I'm glad you liked it! 🙂 This game has a definite pacing to it, a very clear example of the game preparing you for later stages is Yian Kut-Ku, Yian Garuga, and Rathalos. When I fought Rathalos for the first time, I felt so prepared it was insane, it was an epiphany for me.

God, that bit at the beggining showing how each monster experience ads up for the next battle gave me some dem feels. This is the type of game that doesn't pull any punches and if you wanna learn you have to do it the hard way, but after pushing through the though love it puts you through you find how amazing this game really is.

ngl, I kinda got choked up watching it and hearing the music and all that, there's something really special about it. Then again I get choked up watching the intros to the games, like mh4u's and mhgen's intros are so hype and exciting and I just feel ahhhhh lol it's great. This game really wants you to succeed I think 🙂 Games like Dark Souls did too, but I feel like it's definitely gotten twisted, unfortunately, a lot of difficult games out there just for the sake of being difficult, but MH really wanted to push you and encourage you and say "If you need help, it's okay to lean on your friends" since it was made to be a co-op game anyways, and like "It's okay to take a break and experiment and each failure is just one more step to victory" and stuff. Rather than "If you die you lose EVERYTHING" lmao. It's great stuff 😊😊

I just finished the urgent quest for blangongalalaboi. I cheated a bit by fighting the guild hall quest first though. that lunging ice throw attack was really obnoxious. its fun starting on a fresh save, im not gonna lie

When I first went through, each new monster made me feel a bit anxious because I had no idea what to expect haha, but it was also so fun seeing each brand new monster, my first Kushala Daora was amazing, the music hit me pretty hard lmao

Yeah I feel ya. Though for the most part he usually kills them for me lol, when he decides to be aggressive. If they're giving you a lot of trouble, like if you're using HBG or something, maybe try making use of leaving the area and coming back to get rid of them.

Feel ya bro. I suggest trying to use LS, G.Lance, or GS if ur brave enough. It depends on your play style. When it was my first time killing it, use a trap to trap blagonga first, then kill the small ones if they are present, they can be a pain in the ass. Or try moving to a different area and come back again. If you want to get rid of them fast, I suggest HH, the Gioprey Balloon or the Khezu one, and buff urself with harder attacks. If you are in Area 7, try climbing on the small ledge and buff there. If not HH, try Dual Blades! But it might be hard to hit Blagonga with it, so be careful. I've finished the game for a long time, and I'm not hesistated to start again. Happy Hunting!!

Here's some tips: In my opinion, GS, Hammer, LS and HH is good for hunting Blagonga. However, it depends on your play style. When he calls the blangos, try to kill them first. Because you will srsly need it. Unless u evade almost everything then good for you. Even tho I've already finished the game, its always fun to start from scratch again. Happy hunting!!

Yeah, I think humility is pretty lacking in communities like Dark Souls and MH, where it really shouldn't be. I'll always remember how difficult things can be for newer players, and I try to see things from where they might be, things like Plesioth and Khezu gave me hell my first time around, so I imagine it'd be similar for other new players. My first time with blangonga, i already have "Fall" blade which is fire long sword. Got the ingredients which is supposedly found in rathalos or rathian from pokkefarm boat (trenkka?) for only 300 pokkepoints in jungle. Specifically the WyvernFuild something.

As a bowgun user in MHGU, he was by far the most frustrating beast to hunt down. The things I despised about him are: his minions blocked my shots too often and bombarded me with snowballs, he was difficult to track down, movesets are frantic and unrelenting, and I ran out of cold endurance potions(5); thus, my stamina kept dropping too quickly.

Playing the previous games in prep for Rise I notice monsters in this game seem to be more aware that they can waste your Spirit Gauge and Power/Armor Pill time by spamming certain attacks or movement options.

Tell me, HeadHunter, what's your opinion on each monster you've made a guide of so far?

Giadrome and Bulldrome are good introductions to the game, Giadrome is pretty weak and easily staggered, but teaches you how to work with/around small monsters getting in your way. Bulldrome can be tricky if you don't learn the moves and get out of the way and attack when it's safe. Kut-ku is the best, it definitely can be hard as hell for new players, but it teaches so much about the game that it's important to fight something like it eventually, and it sets you up for success if you take some time to figure it out. Congalala is fine, more small monsters, more learning how/where to stand and attack, sets you up for similar fights like blangonga, rajang, etc Cephadrome is awful. Khezu is pretty scary, both in concept and execution, he's just real menacing like, and you can very easily get set up to die from max hp, very easily. It demands your attention in ways the other monsters haven't quite done so far. It makes you take your time and make every movement count, which so far the game has only recommended you do. Daimyo is nice, one of the only monsters you can comfortably tank hits from (with some weapon types) his armor is great, and it introduces some interesting concepts like burrowing and interesting movement that not many monsters do. Gypceros is interesting, introducing both the swamps and poison (a really potent one) it also makes you either make use of blocking or panic diving, which hasn't been asked much before except maybe from Khezu. Plesioth is very hard, but fortunately optional (for solo key quests at least) though I'd rather fight 100 Plesioth than 1 more damn Cephadrome. Blangonga is fine, I'm not too great with these types of monsters tbh, which may be a problem when I eventually get to Rajang lol, but he's very mobile like Giadrome and has backup like giadrome, but hits way harder than Giadrome. somethin like that

Nice! Good job, keep practicing and experimenting! 😄 Honestly, beyond enjoying the game more, I think it's a very good idea to familiarize yourself and experiment with all of the weapons. Some fights are just way better when using a specific weapon type, generally speaking.

I've been retrying for more than 6 times with eager cleaver and cephalos armor and always die. He was so easy to kill in the 2 star mission but the 3 star urgent one is too damn hard I can't even damage him to weakened state (the limping). I might be stuck with this for days or worse, even weeks 😔

It can be pretty difficult, he's a lot faster than most monsters you fight up to this point, and he does a lot of damage. But keep with it! You can do it! Take breaks if you have to, maybe try a different strategy, bring traps and/or bombs, and materials to make more traps and/or bombs, try getting the hermitaur armor, it has a lot more defense. If you got the cephalos armor, somehow, you should be able to get through this! :D Blangonga definitely stands out as one of the more difficult to fight, along with Rajang, in my opinion. You can do it! 🙂

After MHW, I've played a lot of GU but I kinda want to go play these earlier monhun games. I should try this out but are hitboxes as bad as ppl make them out to be? For this fight, they look pretty good.

I mean, regardless of the hitboxes being bad (they can be pretty bad) it's just another layer that you have to consider. If you're already pretty seasoned you shouldn't have too much trouble, after being hit by a move a couple of times, you tend to learn where it's safe or not to stand, and there's ways around some of the more egregious hitboxes (You can cheese Plesioth with traps if you want), you just have to be careful, and I guess more specifically, *not* be careless. Don't be greedy, take it slow, play methodically, and even if the hitboxes are jank (they kinda can be) it's, for the most part, fine, IMO. It's all avoidable even if it doesn't make sense sometimes. Then again I mostly play LS, so for things like Lance and such it may be very very different lol. Hammer seems to be very popular in MHFU. IMO MHFU is still a VERY good game in its own right, but I cannot recommend enough to not play MHF1 lmao, go ahead if you want to, but IMO it's quite unplayable, it just lacks so much quality of life that MHFU (and later games) adds that it's pretty jarring, it's very barebones, whereas MHFU feels like a good balance between it being an early game and being well fleshed out.

After playing ~300 hours, some moves have indeed some really bad hitboxes (or just lingering hitboxes after the main one), but in general they are precise enough to work around them And there are so many weapons and armor, and the majority of them look pretty good

In my opinion MHGU(i haven't played the game myself) looks to be the epitome of the OG monster hunter experience. So you might get frustrated at first, since there would be a lot of downgrades to the game as a whole, but you should give it a try nonetheless. As for the Hitboxes, some monsters will make you scream "Bullshit!!" at the top of your lungs at your screen, lmao

Should i upgrade my armor or..which armor i should upgarde?im really confused

Really depends. If you're having a tough time with things, then yes, upgrade your armor. I remember upgrading Hermitaur armor as much as I could because I just wanted the most out of it. If you run out of armor spheres, you can go mining to try and get more. Basically... the general idea is that the higher rarity equipment you get, the higher rarity armor spheres you need to upgrade them, so you might as well use the lower tiered ones to upgrade your armor now, that being said, for the most part most of the stuff you get early on isn't quite worth upgrading since it'll be replaced, either eventually or even right around the corner. I don't upgrade my equipment because I want to show the hunts done with a baseline level of equipment and preparation, I leave room for people to use different equipment (the only thing I try to max out is the weapon, so the fight doesn't take forever) and utilize buffs, traps, bombs, etc whatever you want that could possibly make the hunt smoother for you. I just want to show what to do if you don't want to bring all of that, or, more likely, when you run out of all that. tl;dr upgrade your armor if you can see yourself using it for a while, if you're not sure if you'll be using it for a while, either 1. do you like the look of it 2. is the base defense of it not too far below others that you can get where you're at in the game? For example, using something with a base defense of 8 while you can make gear with a base defense of 32 is probably not a great idea and 3. most importantly, does the armor have skills that you like, because IMO that's the biggest deciding factor as to whether or not armor is useful or not, but feel free to pick armor based on looks or pure defense as well, as those are important too, of course. I wanna look good while I hunt :P

I used a greatsword trying to hunt Blangonga, honestly so difficult and extremely annoying. He moves so fast (I can't even use the charge attack) and run away from that area when limping after I land hit a few times (this goes around 4-5 times in my case).

Yeah pretty much, he moves a lot... makes fighting him with slower weapons a lot more frustrating lol. I don't remember if I hunted Blangonga with GS for the channel but maybe I could give it a go.

GS user here, I know this reply is very late but yea there is almost no opening with this guy for even a lvl 2 charge let alone 3 (I suggest just lvl 1 pot shots at him and keeping it up). The only time I could think of is probably when he does that huge lunge attack but as headhunter said, you need some insane pro hammer/gs main timing for that.

There's too many to choose tbh lol Rathalos' roar is just a classic Garuga is kinda neat Khezu of course is just so unique and terrified me when I first fought him Nakarkos is just such an awesome monster, and I love basically everything about him, roar included Nargacuga and Zinogre is pretty classic too, Zinogre really said awoo, Nargacuga really went rawr Rajang is so intimidating, but that might be because I've never really fought him 😅😅 I dunno, there's too many to pick from haha, but I guess when I think of roars, it kinda ties into what the monster is as well, so I can't really say just based on the sound of it. Tigrex would definitely be pretty up there. As far as sound effects, yeah I dunno, the sound of gathering things feels pretty good, and the general fanfare for succeeding things like using the hammer in the farm. The splat sound of using a potion is always fun, I imagine you just throw the bottle against your helmet and go "Yeah! That's good enough!" lmao.

So I am a bow user and I am doing the grank quest for nekhot what should I do also I can't use any weapon other than the bow i am bad with everything else.

Bring a fire bow and use earplugs. Use flash bombs, kill the blangos and break his head so he can't summon them anymore, remember you can leave the area and come back if he summons blangos and they'll be gone, like I said in the video. Traps aren't super useful against him, but you can use them if you'd like. He's a little susceptible to sleep, doing at least one sleep bomb probably isn't a bad idea. Good luck!

You can get earplugs from Hornetaur or Garuga gear. The earplug decorations take materials from both of those.

Haha, it's better to be safe than sorry! My first times against most monsters were pretty intense, I equal parts afraid and interested. Tried to prepare as much as possible. Sometimes that wasn't enough (like with Khezu, scared the shit out of me my first few times) and I just had to keep learning the monster lol

I'm doing the monsters in order that you fight them in the elder quest list. Rathalos (And Rathian) is the key quest after the Tigrex Key Quest, and before I do any key quests I'll be covering the monsters within that tier of quest, so for 4 star I'm still doing Monoblos, Basarios, Shogun Ceanataur, Yian Garuga, Tigrex, and Kushala, for 5 star I'll do Diablos, a Gravios playthrough, Gypceros & Purple Gypceros playthrough, 2 Daimyo Hermitaurs playthrough, and then Rathalos and Rathian. The playthroughs are things that have been covered before (somewhat) but are still key quests, so I felt like I should cover them. That's the plan so far.

Once you kill them, you go up to them and press circle. You can get the "+" materials in high rank. You have to finish the Granny's quests and start getting quests from the cat next to her.

Is using Jaw Kut-Ku hammer against Blangonga overkill? It feels only took few hits to defeat him. But still, despite only few hits, it's really hard and long battle bcs he moves so much. And maybe because I'm also cheating. I was using too much save state... Oh I was using: - Jaw Kut-Ku hammer - Battle armor set (level 6) - Atk boost from 3 Felynes chefs - Power & Armor Seeds - Flash bomb (when Blangos are summoned)

1. Always come as prepared as you feel comfortable with, there's *almost* never such a thing as over preparing. 2. Never take a fair fight if you can help it. You shouldn't use save states pretty much ever unless you're testing or practicing honestly. It can make you play sloppier and you may end up being unable to save in game and needing to rely on save states, which is no good. You kind of shouldn't upgrade your armor early on since you'll be replacing it very soon, however don't let that stop you from doing it if you feel like it helps you. Blangonga is very annoying because he moves around all the time. Hammer, IMO, isn't a great weapon to use against him because of how slow the attacks are and how open they leave you, despite being able to run with it out.

For the sake of the guide videos I use relatively minimal set ups for convenience and to give people a place to start from. I recommend and encourage people to bring more if they want to, but the idea is you should bring at least whatever I do. Same thing with bringing a felyne comrade. Also I eat for the attack buff, again for convenience, so demon drugs wouldn't help.

You don't have to kill Tigrex in that quest. The best course of action, especially with a new file, is to paintball Tigrex and stay the hell away from it. Grab popo tongues when you can, but as soon as Tiggy shows up in your area, run to wherever he isn't. The quest might take a while, but it shouldn't be too hard as long as you don't fight Tigrex.

You're not supposed to kill Tigrex there. The idea is you're a new hunter and this "end game" boss is messing with you, kind of to make it your rival I suppose, since Tigrex is the flagship of MHF2
