God I absolutely love OG monster hunter, I played every single main MH since 2002. You're a real one for doing a speed run on this one using a fun weapon instead of HBG or any gun really.

Man, this sounded like a Hard mode speedrun Also, i was thinking Gunlance could have been a good weapon against Basarios and Gravios, but i forgot Bombs are banned

MHUTwitch (Who streams on Twitch coincidentally) is doing their runs with a Gunlance if you're interested in seeing that. I'm not much of a Gunlance player, I never was, so seeing me attempt this challenge with that weapon would have just been embarrassing.

Since it's a Solo Speed Run, I feel like the normal Lance might be a great option once perfected, or even SnS, but the problem is those weapon types don't really have any good options until after a bit of grinding has been done.

@@JonesCrimson Same goes for Bow Those 3 weapon ARE good match up against monsters, but they dont have a good option to use early game

Yep, I have plans to do Nekoht%, which is high rank village from the cat. I've had talks about doing Low% Guild too, but that will have to wait for a while

@@DarkLink7 If you send Trenya the cat out for expeditions to the Jungle for 200, or 300, points then he has a decent chance to bring back some of the fluid you're looking for. Either that or you can get 8000 guild points and fight the Rathalos/Rathian in the 2Star Guild

I also started playing unite recently, but I played tri before this so I had some experience with these games. This game really relieved my itch for more monster hunter, since tri has the least amount of monsters of all the games.

It's always interesting to see speedrunners of the MH series playing seriously without the usual speedrunning weapons. By the way, would you use GS if it wasn't banned? I assume it's a yes

Without the bans HBG would be my first choice, followed by Hammer then Greatsword. It's more interesting that they're banned though, makes me think of other routes. I did do another run after this one with SnS which was 5 minutes slower but I haven't uploaded it because it's probably a lot less interesting

brother , why use Fall and not Eager Cleaver for the earlier parts of the run? (havent watched the entire thing, just peeking for tips) )

Eager Cleaver is too expensive to make, it requires a ton of materials and that would take too long to acquire. Meanwhile Fall is fast, cheap and has great matchups against many monsters in the run.

How you get fire wyvern fluid

You get it from Trenya (The cat with the boat) in the farm. Send him to the Jungle for 200/300 points and there's a decent chance for Wyvern Fluid

I used full ceanutaur set and eager cleaver, that's what I used to farm tigrex and now I'm full tigrex set

Sword and Shield is pretty average I would say, not bad but nothing special when compared to the likes of Hammer. The name for the category wasn't made by me, however I can tell you that it was a spin on the current name for the Any% Speedrun which is called "Granny%". It's just a fun, wacky category to play so the name had to be silly too.

It's all just practice. The more you play the more you'll learn about things. I've been playing this game for so many years and I'm still dying to monsters and learning new things
