I remember the first time I took them on as a duo in MH3U, I was absolutely overwhelmed. Its so funny how now I look at basic Rathalos and Rathian as a simple, easy hunt, when my first few times they felt like overwhelming opponents. Love that about Monster Hunter, as you get better and more familiar with monsters, you start to feel less threatened by things regardless of your armor/defense.

For some reason, I threw a dung bomb during this mission and it drove rathian as she was landing, but my guess is that it was because of the cloud, not the repel effect. Stupid dung bomb only works with Khezu

Ah yes, the Couple Treatment. Usually, I started running the moment they came into view, but it's you, so Imma give it a chance. I remember encountering these two simultaneously in the treasure hunt quest. I fought the Rathalos with the Golem Blade for about 4 minutes or so until I heard ANOTHER flapping sound. Look and behold, here comes the Queen. Fuck it. It ain't worth the effort. So I paint the two, and run to the nest. Keep gathering stuff until the last five minutes where I just pass those two to return to base where I see the Rathalos limping. Very tempted to beat the lizard, until I remember his partner at the edge of the screen. NOPE. NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. Now that I got the Eager Cleaver, I'm thinking of trying to challenge those two again. Or at least, cut their tail off. Always miss the tail when using a GS.

You can not always miss the tail if the Raths are shooting a fireball because the tail is stretched forward while they recover from their Fireball recoil. Just ignore attacking its head and go for the tail to farm some Rath Plates.

lol yeah #7 was mispelled on purpose. #9 yeah that's a general monster thing, if they turn faster than usual, they're probably going to charge at you, if it's slower, they'll probably do something else. 😄 It didn't take too long, when I was finding out where they tend to go, I noticed that they sometimes will both be in area 4. I just sped up the game until they both went there, then went in, kept Rathian from running away, and just ran around them until I was able to get something like that. 😉😉 Thanks for watching 😄 See you in the next one 😜

What are you saying? Gravios is no different than a stationary target if you're using a bow, it's even possible to kill it without taking any damage(but I think you're already aware of that). The hardest creatures I've ever fought were two ceanataurs using a bow while fighting a Gravios(I'm serious).

I'm pretty sure if it's a specific amount (not endless/epic hunt) they'll have less HP each. So if it's a dual Rajang hunt for example. they'll have less HP each, that's at least how I understand it working throughout the series, I don't think it worked differently in 2nd gen.

Great job! 😄😄 Tigrex is very difficult, I'd highly recommend you try using Lance if you can, anything with an extra Guard+1 since that'll prevent his roar from damaging you through it, but even without it, you should be fine. You can check my later guides if you'd like some more tips. Without knowing what weapon you're using it's hard to recommend strategies and armors etc. I guess I'd just say Hermitaur, assuming you're not using it. It should give you a bit more defense which can be helpful, or, of course, Rathalos or the Azure Rathalos with Garuga Mask would be better, and since you're doing the guild quests, you should have already progressed enough in village, if you do what is most recommended. Good luck! Tigrex is an asshole in 2nd gen, but he's a much better fight later on 😄😄 Lance makes it much more managable, if you're able to use it :)

Currenty, I'm using devil slicer, mirage finsword, wyvern sword maple, black sword, and I'm building the atlantica path. I also use some 2 hammer, currently, kut ku pick and black hammer. I'm enjoying hunting elder dragons. Familiarizing their attack patterns. My current armor is garuga with mask. All level 11. Tigrex is a bastard. Even in guild quest lol. Really get me frustrated. Most likely when he's enraged. Too fast. I'm practicing using some decent GS. Currently I have Ravager+.

Glad you mentioned MHW, it'll be different in MHW, I've played with DBs enough *I think* to know a bit how it goes, but also here's a video of me fighting Azure Rathalos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXmcfpqjabppedE though that's with Switch Axe For DB's, I think, you want to find an opening to tenderize his legs, you can tenderize out of your 2nd spin attack, once you get his legs tenderized, you can do more damage to him there, focus on his legs, if you get him knocked down, focus on his head for more damage (or tail if you want to cut it for an extra carve) Bring flash bombs and flash bugs just in case he's flying around too much, he'll do that. For rathian it's mostly the same thing, but she wont be in the air for nearly as long. There's quite a few similarities between MHFU and MHW Rathalos and Rathian, like how Rathalos will roar and then follow up with a back hop fireball for example, but there are many differences as well. Be sure to take your time with the fight and find out your openings first. I'd make a video covering it but I haven't had much time lately, sorry, though I would like to make MHW (and MHRise) videos eventually. After MHP3rd I guess.

The charges that the Raths do in this game are known as "insta-charges", because they are instant, there is no way to 100% know when it will do the attack other than predicting it, you'll get better at that the more you play and become familiar with the game and the monsters. That being said, if a monster is turning towards you, 9 times out of 10, basically, you don't want to be standing in front of it. Also, when a wyvern of this type (Some others like Kut-Ku, Gypceros etc. included) turns faster than it normally does, it's most likely going to be a charge attack or something like that, though keep in mind it may be something else, depending on the monster and the state of the game at the time. It can be very difficult to deal with honestly, if it's not an insta-charge it's the tail whip, right? Just stick with it, try and watch other hunters to see what they do and how they handle things, maybe even check out some of my videos 🙂 Depending on what weapon you're using, there are different ways to approach each monster. So here's my story. I once Ecounter the wyverns couple during Treasure Hunt. I found Rathalos in area 3 after quite some time Rathian came to assist. I was surprise back then and i had an idea to make them hurting each other for example Fireball attack and Ram attack. If Rathalos accidentaly breathes Fireball to Rathian or the other way around how much the damage takes? Also it might be a nitpicking but the Ram attack has no warning unlike Gravios

don't think rathian goes to area 3 very often, or at all, i only tested it briefly, but I never saw Rathian go anywhere other than 4, 5 and 9. The damage that monsters do to other monsters has always been pretty low in the MH games, it's annoying, but that's just how it works. (Obviously not talking about turf wars in MHW, or when they attack each other in general in MHW since monsters fighting each other is much more part of that game in particular.) And yeah, the instant charges are pretty annoying, you just have to try and stay away enough and attack when you can.

I know sometimes people will hunt a rathian/rathalos and focus on cutting off the tail, then they'll carve it, if they don't get a plate, they abandon the quest/restart the game, and try again. @@HeadHunter455 quiting is a no for me. I just feel frustrated because hunting these monsters are just a walk in the park if I'm bent on killing but trying to carefully capture? Yeah that's hard. Then all efforts are wasted because the plate isn't on the rewards or carves.

And as for rathian, circling counter clockwise is always safe to avoid her backflip. Bcoz her backflip is slightly diagonal to her right (your left).

Rathian armor for low rank has, by default; Health +30 Poison Duration Halved 190 defense (90 for gunner) and 7 slots (or 8 if you use the Rathian Cap) You can very easily get Detect activated with one Psychic Jewel, since the armor also has 9 in Psychic Vis, you also have enough slots for Autotracker, which is more useful IMO, that'll take 3 jewel slots, leaving you with 4 (or 5) not counting weapon slots. You can then use a weapon with 1 slot, or the Rathian Cap to get Poison Negated if you'd like. Not bad, but it really depends on what you want. You can eat to boost your health, and it doesn't stack with health boosts from armor, I think, in this game, so it's not as useful. I'd say the Rathalos armor is better, but I really like how the Rathian armor looks. Up to you, really! :) It can work well for a while, depending on your needs.

Well, if you really want to use that instead of a bow, I'd recommend using pitfall traps and bombing it. I do that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apuvgaOJoL-cqtk But I really don't recommend it. I made a gravios guide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5aVq2yFaLJ4m8U if you can, just use a bow. But I'll try and make a more official LS/GS playthrough of it, good luck :) Also keep in mind that you can still attack his stomach without bouncing, if you have green sharpness, but it'll still take a while.

This one's annoying and it doesn't help that the wiki is just missing information on it... Honestly, I don't 100% know myself unfortunately, but I *think* I've gotten it from Garuga, Tigrex, and Rathalos/Rathian through the rewards box? But I really just don't know :( If I can try to figure out a reliable way to get them, I'll definitely try and cover it in a video sometime. If you're in 5* quests, the wiki says you can get it from the "Small Shadow over the Swamp" quest. But I don't know for sure.

@@HeadHunter455 Just so you know, I used 2 Torso Incs to boost my attack. You just need to craft the Velociprey Tasset, and Blue Pants to get 2 Torso Incs. Torso amplify the effects of the Plate Armor by 2. It works just like the Arithmetic series in math. For example, you have a 1 Torso Inc worn and wore a Vespoid Armor which grants you +5 Sleep and +4 Psychivis. The Torso inc amplifies that by 2 of the base number. Which means your main armor's stats changed from +5 & +4 to +10 & +8. This is useful to raise the numbers up to 25. But to get the Full set of Torso Incs, you need to possess the Black Belt Helm, Velociprey Tasset, and the Blue Pants respectively.

Yeah, if you really need rubies though, and you have Silver Rathalos unlocked, you're kinda better off cutting his tail, carving it, and abandoning the quest if you don't get it. It's a rare drop from Rathian, you just have to keep trying. Cut off the tail and capture the highest rank Rathian that you can.

No, there's not really any reason to do those quests. You can use the information in this video to help you fight them, obviously you wont be able to get Yian Garuga armor, just use hermitaur I guess, but I guess Tigrex is fought in HR 2 if you want a decent weapon to fight them with. And just in case you don't know, you can't get some materials from the 2 star Raths. The 1 and 2 star quests in the guild are meant to be easier but less rewarding, the quests are normal starting from 3 star on, and there are only key quests in the 3 star guild hall. I'm not covering every single quest in the game, just the key ones, starting with the village quests. Just do the village quests first, you'll get to the Raths eventually.

You just have to keep fighting it, that's how RNG works. Capturing has a higher chance than carving, but it's "only" a 2% difference.

You can do this with just about anything you want, really, if you just prepare enough beforehand. That being said, the Steel Ice Blade+ would be better, if you want to use an ice elemental GS. Elemental Greatswords aren't very good in general, unfortunately. Elemental damage benefits more from faster attacking weapons. Better than Steel Ice Blade+ would be something like, Judgment or Sword of the Diablos.

First: fight Rathian it has low Health. Then: fight Rathalos it has High Health. That my best Tip for new Player MHFU. also use LS and bring Trap and Flash bomb.

I dunno if traps are really necessary, players should absolutely be ready for this fight by now, since they've, hopefully, fought Kut-ku and Garuga enough, even if they only fought them once (and every other monster with similar moves,) it's still quite a preparation for what Rathian and Rathalos do.
