Personally, the first time I beat Ukanlos was with a Lance (took me 49 minutes), and after rigorous practice, a Hammer (20 minutes max). It took me almost a month of practice to finally know his hitboxes and movesets. But in the end, it's all worth the effort. This series has come a long way, and I'm glad to see it finally reach the apex. Good job, man.

Yup! The beam is not only Ukanlos’s strongest attack, it’s got the highest motion value of any non-Fatalis monster attack in the game at 180-more than Akantor’s beam at 150 (which is itself really really high). Only Yama Tsukami’s instant death move hits “harder”.

This fight is all about positioning, his most damaging moves are telegraphed but with careful positioning you can easily avoid them. Damn I had no idea you could directly walk through its swim. :p Btw really happy with how far this guide has come along and waiting for more to come

Much like the akantor that I bitched about, I too bitched about this adversary. I do not particularly enjoy that the game creates so many "you're just dead" moments and it happens quite a lot with this monster. HGE like with tigrex and akantor does not block the damage and knockback you take with the "enraged roar", I only did one attempt of HGE before swapping back to this set to verify that and am making assumptions for tigrex and akantor because (they're just the same) I will at least give it this, It's more interactive than the squid or RNG double black diablos (Even with HGE 5% health and burrow frame 1 uppies stun dead) I murdered this thing, my cat cut off it's tail and I kicked it's corpse in celebration, It made me rage like a toddler, but it is over now, he is dead, I can now say, I have killed every monster, except.... HIM. Now enough Whinging, I went into this game fairly happy and have come out of it decently satisfied, to the point where I'm now going to begin the arduous journey for the Fatalis Trio in G rank to finally put and end to, the White Fatalis. I've recently discovered the freedom unite complete patch, it essentially is what tmodloader is for terraria, but at base it includes the DLC items for the granny (meat, kelbi horns, flashbugs *on rotation) and the ability to remove the bloated raw, while retaining the ability to play online with Hunsterverse (something I have not, or may not ever set up). FU is as far back I'm willing to go at this point, I don't particularly see a reason to play 1 or 2, when up until tri, they're just the same game but better, perhaps out of curiosity one day I will look at 1 or dos, but for now, Freedom Unite is tenatively complete. your videos were of great assistance for gearing progression and I hope the P3RD videos allow people to get more information about that game (which is a bloody nightmare to find data on). farewell for now and take care.

Yeah, this game, and MH in general honesty, does throw "You got hit once, now you're dead" moments at you. There's many things that cause that, not being able to choose when you get up when you get knocked down is one of them, they changed that in later titles, fortunately. For the roar damage, like, I'd prefer to take the damage most times because being hit by the roar can often lead to just being hit by another, usually more damaging attack. It's rough. Ukanlos is rough tbh, great job taking him down!! You've accomplished something great :) I do think MHFU is a great place to stop, that's for sure, but if you're ever curious, the first games are interesting as well :P I'm glad you like my stuff! When you get to third gen, you will only go through portable 3rd, right? Cause there's also 3u, which to an extent has different monsters.

I'd like to cover each unique game if possible, but yes right now the main focus will shift to p3rd, the main reason being it's on the same system as MHFU, most people who play MHFU know about p3rd, and some people who watch/find my stuff may not actually know that p3rd isn't the same as 3u, like I did a while ago. Unfortunately for 3u and 4u, it's harder to emulate while getting a good framerate for recording. I'd love to cover it in the same way as the others, but I'll just have to see how practical that is. MHFU and MHP3rd run perfectly in PPSSPP, so it's been great, but I may just have to skip to World and Rise if 3u and 4u are too much. I have them on my 3ds but it's not modded so I can't record it. I'd play 3u on Cemu. I could also make MHGU guides/videos since I have that on my switch and I could technically record it, but I don't have anything set up to do that right now.

Well, if you have the DLC thing (it's included in FU Complete: github.com/FUComplete/Patch) you can buy flashbugs from the granny peddler If you don't have the DLC though, then unfortunately not really, it's the same thing with honey. I've been meaning to make a video, or probably a short, talking about it. Basically, you can get them from the farm, so make sure to gather from there, and when using the hammer on the tree make sure you don't use the golden one, since you won't get flash bugs when using it. I didn't know that for the longest time. More info here: monsterhunter.fandom.com/wiki/Pokke_Farm#Bug_Tree Apart from that, you can get flash bugs from most bugnet places, I think. I have a list of the gathering quests and how many gathering spots for different things there are here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EpMs8iducma2oRZaGvgjij_UhZQNHYn11EdtS7ex0X0/edit#gid=43743237&range=A1 But the tl;dr is the Old Desert has 6 bugnet nodes, the desert has 5, and the rest have like 3 or 2 each. What I'd recommend is go and gather in the farm for honey and flash bugs, then go and gather some in a gathering quest, then rinse and repeat. It's kind of a slowish process, but it's the only way. Remember farcasters if you want to end the quests faster.

😄 well I'm glad you found me! As for low rank armor, I was in a very similar place as you when I first started out, and I decided I'd just make a full set of something. I went with the Hermitaur armor, and I'd recommend you do that too, it's got a bunch of defense which helps a bunch. I recommend an armor set for each fight in the game, so I'd recommend you find the video of the monster that you're on in my channel and you can use that as a starting point. Other good low rank options are the Rathalos Armor and a slight mixed set with full Azure Rathalos but with the Garuga Mask, that'll give you HGE and AuL I think. In early game Reckless Abandon isn't so good I'd say don't focus on that too much, but it's really your call. Also, seriously, if you like how an armor looks or think the skills sound interesting, that's 100% a valid reason to use it as well, if you look and feel cool/badass/etc., it makes the game funner.
