Thank you, another great video M Hood. PS. We had record lows on Danube in my country for the better part of the summer. A few critical sections of the river had to be dredged and there were limitations imposed on max length, width and draft of the vessels. Also lots of funny stuff emerging from beneath the water, like remains of sunken german warships from WW2, parts of roman bridges etc.

good episode and the nerd in me really liked the information about the river and water levels. its just stuff most folks never think about. especially when you mentioned the grain coming down the river on barges. I'm familiar with O&G barges but never thought about other industries barges. On to the fishing portion that ring light probably did bring in the bait. I wonder if you could catch some with your Zabiki rig while waiting?

You are a classy man. Listening to Beethoven’s 9th symphony in the background. Worked as a deckhand for a couple of summers saving money to go to college. Became an Engineer and now retired. But if I had a chance to do it over, I would stay on the River and train to become a pilot/ Captain. More challenging and rewarding, not to mention the time off to go fishing.

You're very formative I really appreciate everything you're talking about on the river. I live all the way up in the north part of the states where the river starts. And I love to fish too. I don't eat them I always let them go. Unfortunately sometimes they swallow the hook and they die. Those are the ones I give to my neighbor who loves to eat fish. That blue catfish you caught looked very healthy. Thanks for letting them big boys go.

Southern Oregon checking in - dry creek beds - low water behind dams - low release rates for Steelhead & Salmon - weak returns with low numbers. "The River is Boney", meaning boulders, is the local refrain. Rafters are leaving and we wait for water. shallow draft is king these days.

Not sure if I’d eat anything living in the Mississippi River nowadays. At low levels without all of the farm chemicals and sewage being diluted, you’re likely to get hepatitis or at a minimum the 24 hour squirts.

that’s so untrue😂
@jerbearp95722 жыл бұрын
Can you eat the fish out of the Mississippi ? Just wondering about the chemical plants in area ? Thanks for any info.
@keithsparling55372 жыл бұрын
Not just chemical plants... but the fertilizers, and weed killiers from the farmers... nuclear powerplants using river water... I grew up on the Illinois, and Mississippi... The heavy coal traffic back then made the shores black and "gooey" 6 inches down, you hit black gooey oil soaked sand. I wouldn't eat anything out of the rivers back there. I wouldnt swim in them! Especially heavy corn planting depletes nutrients so rapidly, fertilizers get over used... Ever notice high high the weeds at the field drainage creeks edge is??? Usually towers over everthing, cause its "fertilizer soaked" soil!!! It all washes into the rivers... factories getmost of the blame, BUT FARMERS DO MORE THAN THEIR SHARE OF POLLUTING!

How is the fishing in the sac river, i live near sac
@EASTSIDERIDER7072 жыл бұрын
@@brianscott382 usually very good but the drought has reduced the flow. The Striper run and Salmon are almost nonexistent. I know a fellow who caught a beautiful one near Yuba City and he became an instant legend. I live in Yuba City and usually do well catching Striper from the bank but not this year. Friends in Knights Landing and Sacramento say The Delta is poor. Most fish don’t enter from San Francisco Bay. Most days I’m catfishing from the Sacramento near Grimes. I make the 20 mile drive to avoid getting my car robbed by tweakers. After 2 weeks of getting skunked I caught a decent Channel Cat and a couple Pike Minnows today. I almost didn’t go because of rain but took the chance. Where do you live?
