I ran into that same exact thing with the Ice SnS. It uses the same parts for two separate things to upgrade, and it reads like you can upgrade it....but you can't if don't have enough parts. Not sure if that was a glitch or oversight or what....

YES, FINALLY, SOMEBODY WHO UNDERSTANDS!!! I cannot stress this enough, but new/less skilled hunters NEED to spend time getting birds, and they NEED to eat Dango before the quest so they get the extra health and stamina. My boyfriend was like HR 60 or something last time I checked, and he died 2 out of 3 times during a hunt cuz he was trying out new weapon types. He would not have died any of those times had he eaten Dango and collected Spiribirds

At 5:42 The Weapon wont upgrade because you need a total of 5 Lagombi claws. It shows that you have enough because 3 is more than 3 and 2 separately but together is less than 5, not allowing the upgrade. I was confused and frustrated by it too.
