It's interesting in monster hunter 4u the monster that got infected was mostly those who were got close with it scale/powder that got left behind. Here he just beat that Goss and left it infected without even eating it Gore/shagaru behavior really is weird for a monster.

Gores are juveniles still learning the ropes and laws of the jungle. It's more likely that it never expected the Goss to actually fight back

That’s because gore leaves them infected until the virus kills them, then he tracks down that dead monster to eat it. Gore are blind and rely on the hairs on its wings to cling onto the infected so it can track them down again.

Well shagaru does that specifically to breed and make new gore, but I don’t know why gore does it.

@@Gedbread I think the implication is that Gore Magala leaves behind a Frenzy infected monster to go on a rampage, kill/infect other stuff, and just do most of the work for it. It could be so Gore has plenty to eat, or it could be because it wants the area to be cleared of all life so that it can molt without needing to worry about anything interrupting it.

I see it as a Komodo Dragon style of hunting. The predator (In this case Gore) comes in and infects the Goss with a minor scuffle instead of a full lengthed battle. Like how Komodo Dragons and some venomous snakes, they land a bite with mininal effort, injecting their venom into the prey, they then retreat to give the prey some space to escape. The prey runs away but soom sucumb to the venom and dies, giving the predator a meal that it didnt work that hard for. I see the way Gore hunts as being similar. Gore comes in, infects the Goss without exoending much effort and leaves Goss to sucumb to the virus and die, giving Gore an easy meal. The problem comes when the infected creature is now hyper aggresive and is capable of spreading the virus further so it just creates a horrible cycle that can very well destroy the entire ecosystem of that area.

Over the years of playing monster hunter, Gore magala was my arch nemesis, and this proved no different. It was going really well until i seen the blue weak sign and when i seen that no idea what happened but he just clapped me back to 2013, only 1 death but man this monster gives me serious PTSD, any other monster i can fight no problem 😂 Ps edit, the entire magala family is my arch nemesis, I hate them all

They didn't intend for it to be a flop, gore just didn't make the cut for the monster list and was most likely at the time put on the list for the next game, which is Rise...
