I just wanna say that as a guy that picked up CB for the first time in Rise... (And was a solo longsword player back in PSP era. Which was also my last MH game.) All these advanced CB tutorials across KZbin are very helpful now that I've reached my current level/understanding on the weapon... The CB is such a deeply complex weapon that it feels like there's no limit to learning and getting even better at it... And I'm grateful for the people that share their in depth CB knowledge.

This video has helped me so much more than other "expert" ones that just tell me specific combos to use and then handwave basic strategies by saying it "varies by monster" rather than talk about combinations of abilities and skills. I could figure things out decently well as a gunner for the guns and bows, but...I've always wanted to get better with Charge Blade, and this is the first place that has actually helped me achieve that!

Im new to this game, how do I make sure I do AED instead of SAED? It seems like every time I have my shield charged, my character defaults to doing SAED which isn't as effective at stunning the monsters

I think you have to hold the down direction on your left stick and press the X button

Hold the oposite direction your hunter is facing in the left stick (meaning if your hunter is facing left you have to press right, you got the idea) and press X while in the begginning of the animation of SAED, it will transform back to an AED.
