@@25PDHarmon you can't cancel a kick, at 3:38 he drew into a guard then roll evaded into a shoulder bash then cancelled the 2nd charge with another shoulder bash into the last charge His move requires you to press B immedietly after pressing ZR then X for the charge then A for the cancel and so on.

Beautiful as always :) looking forward to seeing what you come up with with the full game. Puppet spider was a great call for the instant mount. In the demo at least, it looks like the target monster has a higher mount threshold than the other monsters. Great Izuchi took ~10 aerial attacks to mount in its quest, but only ~3 in Mizutsune's quest.

Don't worry too much about dealing "as much damage" first. You just gotta find ways to create your own opening such as causing trips, stacking KO damage, or exhausting. Exploit the monster's behavior and moveset. Thinking about the dps comes later when you get better at dealing with Mizu.

Is this normally how fast runs are supposed to be, or is there a lot of AI RNG involved? I've done maybe 20 hunts of this thing, but I mostly average around 15 minutes with GS due to it always running to another area midfight. Maybe I just don't land enough TCS?

If you’ll notice in this run, he NEVER misses a TCS. He’s fully exploiting all of Mizu’s openings and putting out a ton of damage because of it.

I wouldn't say a normal run lol. More like a GS speed run. The GS is a mix between a prediction and a hit and run type of weapon. Which means he probably planned out his route to get there and set ups for all of its moves

How do you go about learning your openings/knowing what combos you have time for?

My advice is to observe the monster without attacking and see how it works and the movements it has. Then practice little by little.

@@ArisMH that’s good advice. Thanks. Definitely a better strategy than what I’m doing currently. Been playing since freedom on psp, you would think I’d learn some patience when learning monster movements by now. I typically run in and get hit over and over then I end up learning more about panic dodging and wasting potions.

@@ArisMH have you tried using the LG barrel bombs after the puppet spider? ( spider/lvl1/ lay bombs/ then the hit that mounts) I just tried that and cut my time down a bit. My best is 10:43 currently. Whether it helps you or not, it’s fun.

Don't you feel that the GS feels kinda clunky in rise? They removed the ability to instabash after first slash and the 180 pivot and quick TCS are sorely missed as well. Not to mention you have to constantly spam the silkbind sheath to keep the damage up, but it's not that difficult because you constantly sheath in battle. Also the airborne move is barely used because instasheath is better in almost every case. Feels like some steps were taken forward but some were taken back and now it just feels, different.

Yes, GS feels kinda clunky in rise. A lot of difference in the tackles and in the mobility of the weapon, but everything is getting used to and seeing the weapon with good sets in March.
