Anja weapons are amazing Fire weapons and WOULD be THE best Fire weapons if Handicraft gave them white sharpness and have slots pre-Augment. Even without that, the amazing raw and Element more than make up for it and they have tolerable Blue Sharpness w/o HC.

Hey Phemeto, Bow player here and I wanna thank you for all the knowledge about bow mechanics and building you'r providing through your speedrun videos. I made a build quite different from yours, more fitted to my own playstyle, here is a quick peak: -Dragon-Eye -Nergi armor B -Kushala arms B -Nergi waist B -Kushala legs B -Fitness Charm III While being more defensive / mobile, this setup allow me to have 3 LV3 Gems, 2 LV2 and 1 LV1. Constitution, Evade Extender and Evade window with Stamina surge can make a very agressive movement all around the monster while being safe if the panic factor is in front of you. Then I use my LV3 Gems to add Normal and Spread Shot for some extra overall dps, LV2 for the last point in Weakness Exploit and 1 point in Critical Boost, keep my LV1 for extra elemental depending on which bow I'll use. And whenever I feel it I can swap pretty much everything for a pierce/special ammo set, dragon spamming monsters like Xenojiva in multi. Very flexible, mobile and a good all-arounder but you need to farm so high end-game gems to make it shine. And well, this is gladly thanks to you.

I love that you’re showing that using the bow effectively means you don’t have to spam dragon pierce. Though, then again, it could be because the Kirin is a hard to hit target.

yeah I tried to DP kirin once...it literally bounced right off his face...DP spam isn't viable on a lot of monsters, it works online and against a select few though

+SH Dreikaza Well dont get mad at someone DPing Xeno from it's long end. DP can literally do 500-1k+ damage average to Xeno per DP. I'd get mad at someone DPing Kirin because the thing's hitbox is so small that the average amount of ticks you can get out of DP hitting Kirin or any ridiculously small monster for that matter is two ticks on average. Even from Kirin's long end, DP at best does 3-4 ticks. So I don't agree with that full potential comment. On bigger monsters like Bazel, Diablos, Pukei(Wildspire Giant One), the Bow's full potential would be DP cheesing. yeah its boring but that's full potential. I've tested DP spam and just normal bow hunting as i farmed Diablos and what i found was you kill diablos quicker by about just a minute not spamming DP, as well as running out of Power Coatings, Whereas DP spamming Diablos, i averaged breaking the whole Diablos and had 20 Power Coats remaining by the end of the hunt. Not spamming DP i wasnt able to get the tailcuts and back most of the time. Not spamming DP works on Nergi, Daora, Big Raptors. Nergi because the guy moves fast and its risky charging DP, avg time to kill with spamming DP on nergi is also slower. Daora because apparently only his fucking head and tail can take Damage most of the fight. Sure, 3-5 good DPs on Daora's Long end will crush both his face and cut the tail off but Risky because Daora's long end involves facing his wind breath. So TTK averages just shorter by a little bit over not spamming DP against Daora. I made this comment because i've been following Phemeto for his Bow runs and most of the comments are just plagued with " Oh another DP spam, boring " Hell even Phemeto has to address it in his recent vids, for example his run against Ogo where he had to have a disclaimer of no DP spamming. Let me conclude Spamming DP doesnt strip the Bow of it's full potential.

Michael P you just sent me a whole explanation on something I already knew. Still those who I get teamed with most of the time spam DP and dont know what theyre doing. I wouldn't complain if it was for the better. Also i feel i get way more damage out put when doing my trigger spam and follow with a powershot and so on. And rarely do I use the DP (only when the monster is on his side or is xeno). But I'm just saying I see way more people use DP the worse way possible as if its the only mechanic for bows.

Why does everyone think they will be able to do this if they are wearing the same gear. This took practice and that's what happens when you prepare for a monster . It s not hard to figure out if you can read what monsters are immune too. It's charge your shot end with the b button for the power shot that's what breaks stuff, dragon piercer isn't that good for most builds compare to that quick shot and slide charge

Normal Shots is rarity level 7, which means they can be theoretically found from any tempered monster (but you'll have the best chances with elder dragons of course), and the highest level of meld at the Elder Melder. Weakness Exploit is rarity level 6, so it should be a little easier to find in tempered investigations, and you can theoretically even find it on normal high rank quests (extremely rare tho).

Sick run dude, do you prefer Normal Up over Spread/Power shot Up? I play similarly to you doing the same combos atleast, doing the normal rapid just to string it to a powershot so I wanted to know which would be better DPS wise.

Generally speaking both is the ideal of course. Normal is better than Spread against Kirin though. Against other monsters, if you've using Bow Charge Plus, I reckon they're about equal, since the combos BCP enables use both moves about equally. If you don't have a Bow Charge Plus decoration (and really, who does? I certainly don't), I think Normal Up might be better, just because of how the combos work.

gear doesnt even mean shit in this game, almost all the skills that matter are from decorations or a charm. edit: also, its not hard to figure out what gear he's using just from the skills. rath soul helmet alpha nergigante chest beta teostra gloves alpha nergigante waist beta rath boots alpha fitness charm 3 fire attack, normal shots, and bow charge are from decorations. only piece im not 100% on is the waist because im pretty sure hes using the samurai skin on waist + boots

Yeah if you don't have the decorations you definitely have to make some sacrifices. Bow Charge Plus is obviously not happening without the gem. You're basically stuck giving up either Stamina Surge or Normal Shots. Is bow charge plus really worth it ? It used to be a must have for bows in every monster hunter, but now since it doesn't increase the number of arrows but juste slightly increase the damage, is it worth it ?

Yes. It's a single gem slot and changes your combo from 1 arrow 2 arrow 3 arrow to 1 arrow 2 arrow 3 arrow 3 arrow. So after 100 shots You have 225 arrows instead of 201 and more of those arrows are at 3-4 charge. So before even considering that higher charge arrows do more damage than the low charge arrows, you're already doing a little over 10% more damage. When you also factor in the arrows increasing in damage with each charge level, the damage increase is pretty huge. I'm not sure if the level 4 charge affects dragon piercer or power shot damage, but if it affects those too, that's another positive.

I don't like to speedrun tempers and investigation quests due to random quest modifier, and their limited availability, but i use HBG on Tempers just to farm. Only one i REALLY hate is kushala

I normally run my modified xeno slice lbg for the tempered, still wrecks them just requires farcasting once which really isn’t that bad, just mildly annoying. I actually despise teostra, something about him just drives me crazy lol.

They all basically use the same build, since you get Element Attack +3 using 3 decorations. Like this was his build for this video: Rath Soul Helm Beta (2 Fire Attack Gems) Nerg Mail Beta (Bow Charge Plus Gem, Fire Attack Gem) Teostra Vambraces Beta (Normal Shots Gem) Nergigante Coil Beta (Weakness Exploit Gem) Rathalos Greaves Alpha Fitness Charm III Anjanath Bow (1 Affinity Augment, 2 Raw Augments) He could swap the Anja Bow for the Tobi-Kadachi, Vaal Hazak, Jyuratodos, or Legiana/Daora bows and it wouldn't make any difference, he'd just swap the Fire Attack Gems. If you look at his videos with the Legiana bow it's almost the same set, just with the Rathalos Chest and Lavasioth Boots. Same shit, just with Spread Shots instead of Stamina Surge.

Was gonna try bow again but my cousin got on to help me kill Kirin for my early birthday present. He used LBG while i used HBG. Slicing ammo then when Kirin was stunned, we'd plant bombs, he plants other 3 from his LBG, then i either use wyvern blast or slicing ammo with its special ammo loaded for massive damage. Meanwhile you got this OG Phe doing it with breeze 😏

jon badiola There isn't really a jack of all trades status set anymore, since they split up every one into it's own separate skill (poison attack, paralysis attack etc) and I don't think recoil helps status shots anymore. As for element, just pick a light bowgun that rapid fires said element and go from there. Idk how the x element up skills work on guns, since they have hard caps that are weapon dependant as far as I can tell. Not much else I can say, just some basic tips to get a start.
