I'm quite new with the hammer, I'm a GS user but I wanted to try it because it looked cool and faster than the GS and had to do Velkana. I won the mission somehow but I got raped over and over but I think I'm understanding how it works a bit in order to not like miss every attack and not get hit

The ice patches on the floor acts as a slippery slope, so he will slide as tho he is on a hill if he holds RT while walking over the ice patches.

I'm on Mouse and Keyboard so I don't know how it'll work if you're on controller. I just jump off with the roll button (spacebar) and hold the charge button (side mouse button) when I'm in the air.

This is only specific for Velkhana, she leaves ice pools that you can slide on that act essentially as hills. So all you'll need to do is charge the hammer and move over them to slide.
