I don't understand how the f is THE LONG SWORD weapon the best weapon in the game ??? I start to consider using a hammer or a bow. With long sword Half the time i can't even finish my combo, because the monster runs through me behind me and my combo hits nothing but air, because the character doesnt turn around that fast. So i cant even get the spirit shit up.... and even if its up i cant finish the spirit combo ( R2,R2, R2 and R2 ) to get to the next level to get to red so i can use R2+ TRIANGLE , because i need the last move to hit, but the whole combo takes so long that again the monster has time to hit me or just change directions again and the whole attack misses. Its absolute pain to do combos with it... the combos are too long the whole weapon feels clunky to use in a real fight... it looks cool in training area but fighting moving targets who also can run over you, bite you etc.... it's absolutely shit in my opinion... how the f can people fight with that thing??? can someone explain it to me???

I spent a ridiculous amount of hours playing mostly CB on PS4, just started again on PC with longsword, was looking for a few tips and found an INSANELY thorough road map! Super appreciate this, it’s helping me blast through high rank. Trying to get back to somewhere similar to where i was on PS4 (I had beaten everything except Alatreon, simply cannot win that!). Longsword is brand new for me but a really fun weapon I overlooked. Thank you for the video! (Now if I can only find a way to mitigate the necessary decoration grind...)

@@MidnightDrake the deco grind was real, but I gotta admit, I used a couple PC mods to help speed it up. I know, that’s bad, but I gave myself a couple rules, including never allowing myself to give myself a deco unless I already had earned it on PS4 - basically a cheat to force a cross save. And even then I only used it for one or two specific decos, like the non-elemental jewel and 2 +1 attack jewels I had earned before. I also never gave myself monster materials or anything like that, just used quality of life mods (like putting a lift right next to the Astera spawn point) in order to speed up the grind. Since then though, I’m happy to say I was able to see the game all the way through. Alatreon was definitely the toughest wall, mostly because you need to beat the special assignment first, so if you group up you’re ALWAYS grouping with people who don’t know the mechanic. Fatalis also felt impossible at first, but that one forces you to at least learn phase one solo (minus the AI help), so that one I eventually learned to do with the switch axe (never beat him all the way through on purely solo though, only in groups). I think technically there’s one more MR cap I haven’t reached, and I never bothered with the Witcher content, but outside of that I feel like I took a fair crack at everything. Pretty sure I’ve got at least one successful hunt on everything except the Leshen. Incredible game, can’t wait for a sequel

Inb4 Raging Brachydios. So for anyone that doesn't know yet the two best longswords in the game are raging brachydios and safi's blast longsword awakened for 2 attack up 5, 2 sharpness up 5, and one attack 6.

@@tanelviil9149 I think that just comes down to your skill level. As someone who mains the long sword and the great sword the combos are really no that hard to land consistently you just have to get better at timing when you use the combos in relation to the rest of the fight. Just practice your timing and i promise long sword will feel a lot better.

This guide really helped me out through the Iceborne campaign! Now I have the rarity 11 Stygian Zinogre LS and help out people in Low/High Rank. Edit 1/14/23: I unfortunately no longer play Iceborne, but I left on a good note. I got the Fatalis armor, killed Safi and got a few rare pets. I got to a point I could leave satisfied as I concluded my journey. This was truly an eye opening game as I have never really touched Monster Hunter prior to this. It was a surprising breath of fresh air. So glad I got to play this game, despite how angry I got at certain points. I’ll never forget the time I spent hunting every monster I wanted. What an experience.

Dual Blades and Bow. Everything else feels pretty meh to me in World. Hammer and Great Sword were my mains in the older games. Kushala Daora is my favorite monster but hes a trash fight in World. He has my favorite armor set in the series though. It's too late for me, but you can still save yourself friend.

the gillie mantle is helpful early game. The early game LS's have crappy sharpness, so using the gillie mantle to sharpen or get away to heal is very clutch.

I know you mention that if you want to go past Defender III weapons you need commendations. And if you used them already you have to do long questline (or quests) of capturing. Will this always be the case no matter how far I progress? I used them on LBG, HBG and Bow before I discovered how to use LS and really enjoy LS. But stuck on Defender 3. Have mats to go higher (pink rathios scale) but wasn't sure if I will forever be stuck. (Not including the Zorah quests also) Thanks in advance!

@@RecommendedPlaying Oh I'm following that for sure (except for low/high rank, I'm not keen on skipping the part of the game which I enjoy better, so the old IG guide for that.), but it lacks the enjoyment value of a video.

Today I finally defeated Barrioth, I haven`t played in 3 days and decided to give it one last try I forged a viper fang 2 level 10 sword with electricity and after 35 minutes the bastard went to sleep and I placed to mega bombs in its face and then I smashed it against the wall I was on my last life after 2 faints, my hands were so sore I couldn`t play more.

Is the Focus Skill just a random bonus? I don`t really get it, as i see a lot builds running Focus but in my experience you can fill your gauge quite fast without it. Am i missing something here? Also a nice Guide you did there, gonna start with the Guiding Lands this weekend and can`t wait to get the real grind starting. :) Only downside is, that my stuff from the Basegame after going Platin becomes basicly worthless 20 hours Iceborne later. Running Longsword but went for some comfy sets for now with Health Boost 3 and defensive skills depending on the monster. Switching for more aggressive skills as i get more used to MR and access to better gear.

@@RecommendedPlaying Was just asking if i missed an essential bonus or exploid for LS I wasn`t aware of mate. There are so many skills that i often don`t see a synergy by myself like Quick Sheath can be used for the Stance move which i found out just this week on YT. Or Iai slash being a draw attack which makes Crit Draw so much cooler for me now especially with Quick Sheath.
