@@conejonegro957 Glav is one of the most learnable monsters in Monster Hunter, back in gen I could hunt him with no armor and a first stage vulcanis Greatsword. I killed Glav with the frozen spear tuna in World, first try, zero carts in about 17 minutes. So heck yeah!

Just use Rocksteady or dodge the roars. It's not that hard. Practice on Rathian. She has the easiest roar to dodge to me. Just try to time it when her head stops rearing back and starts to go down a bit for the lunge when she starts to roar. Hard to explain, just try it.

Yes I really agree, Jinx and Tuna provide with math about Highest DPS meta possible which translated into TDS' Speedrun set. Because they also often said like "in order this build to have higher dps than that build you gotta keep Peak Performance 50% of the time." or something like that or "You have to stay in Purple sharpness 20% more of the time etc2" By saying that they mean like "if you can't play cleanly use this build variant" as translated in TDS' Nonspeedrun set.

Tigrex Armour is Godly. Speed eating _aand_ a 75% chance not to consume an item? That is such an efficient use of Consumables. And Don't get me started on the Lvl 5 Earplugs. With that Armour, you can recover from even the most damaging hits within _seconds._ Speed eating for the win!

@@white_cactus6258 Sadly that's not the case. Even if we try not to hit, the reach alone is long enough to hit your teammates. Especially when the monster is down and we are aiming to break certain part. Get flinch free level 1 when you play multiplayer, if you don't and get flinched, that's on you. The only problem i have in multiplayer is hammer/greatsword knocking you up in the air. Now that's more annoying than anything else.

Gold Rath LS also works for everything, since there's only one monster that is immune to poison which is Zorah Magdaros. Even monsters that are not weak to poison still get inflicted by poison quite easily. Nice damage control tho.

Yeah, to prove this I used Rathian LS against her and some other poison based monsters and worked perfectly. The poison damage hit 2 times in each one.

So much this. Claiming that you would only use the Gold Rath LS for 'poison weak' monsters *is* misinformation. The whole point is that the base damage even without poison is incredibly close so it doesn't take much poison at all for Gold Rath to win. You can still get poison procs on 1 star weak monsters. So unless people are farming Zorah Magdaros with MR gear there is no situation where Hellish Slasher wins...

And so what if there are other poison players present, we just whale on the monster till it dies anyway. So yeah, i dunno why they wanna die on the hellish slasher hill, that slot for NEL is also able to be fitted with another skill for example. The only things that Hellish Slasher has going for it is the level 4 slot. While the downside of Gold Rathian is that its super late game.

G. Rath is even more casual than Hellish Slasher because a casual player proportionally takes longer to defeat the monster due to lack of practice, hits on non-tenderizer part , wasted time healing, positioning himself, chasing the monster (if you inflicted poison on the monster but had to run and heal, you are still dealing damage). So there are no other points in favor of Hellish Slasher when Gold Rathian is better for speedrun and even better for newbies.

Such an improtant point on the Health augment. the reduction in "down-time"(getting hit - sheathing weapon - waiting for safe healing window - healing - reentering fight) is a major loss in actual damage during casual hunts, therefore something that make you have less of that by allowing you to make more mistakes before having to invest time into healing up is a much higher time advantage then a small bit of mathematicaly superior DSP, which no one achives while casually grinding guiding lands and such with any frequenzy anyway.

Amen, even if its not for speedruns, Charge blades can easily heal to full health with an SAED. Combine that with a rocksteady mantle and you can literally stand in the same place, chain SAEDs togheter until the monster tries to run away [Which it shouldnt because all that impact]. Thay's why I think the vaal armor set bonus is highly underrated, especially now that it only takes two piece to get. Combine it with recovery up and as long as you don't get hit too often you never need to use a healing item the entire hunt.

Gold Rathians has been proven to be superior via maths on everything but Zorah because Zorah is immune to poison so unless you're fighting Zorah or you don't want to bring too much poison you use this for non-speed runs. Hellish is pre-Gold Rathian and good for that.

So theoretically there can be a Speedrun with a weapon with very low affinity that has a chance to out pace the Meta. But the odds of that happening are so slim no one bothers to do it yet MH speedruns are largely rng so I'm honestly surprised we don't see more unique speedrun builds.

According to JinJinx and Tuna the Golden Rathian LS will beat any other LS vs monsters with 2-3 star poison weakness but it can't out damage a LS using the equivalent 3 star weakness when the monster is at 1 star poison. But yeah the majority of enemies do have 2-3 star poison weakness which makes it optional for most hunts. Personally I like rotating weapons to keep the game fresh and sine I have played long enough to have most endgame decos (fuck me, handicraft jewels they don't exist) and charms, I won't be using the Gold Rathian LS most of the time. But each to their own just make sure you are having fun and not trying to force a specific play style to the whole community. Personally some of my fastest clears have been with a full team running comfort sets. It all came down to coordination rather than maximum damage.

This entire video is in response to the math guys debunking all of these points in their hellish slasher video. The conclusion was that unless you are fighting zorah magdaros who is COMPLETELY immune to poison. Gold rathian is the better "COMFY" long sword since every monster can be poisoned and in master rank poison is very strong.

Magdora Long sword is actually very good for farming. From experience, you can trigger blast dmg on a monster with two star blast weakness (for example, nergigante) 9to11 times per run,that is a solid 3000 dmg no matter where do you hit. Even you meat an one star blast weakness monster you can trigger 8 to 10 times. The short of purple and white sharpness is not that much of a deal, cuz when you are on blue sharp you can still deal decent dmg and acumilate blast dmg, AND by the time you have blue sharp, the monster is very likely changing area, which means you can polish your weapon. The lack of affinity can be covered by reskin the weapon, the blast dmg is also insanely high among all other weapons. In conclusion, I consider this weapon is solid, fun, very high dmg and pretty low entry skill long sword that should be compared to silver ratholoth longsword. I hope TDS can see this post. Have a good hunt!

I love Dual Blades, and I often default to them in my hunts when I want to have fun, but still enjoy having high DPS. That being said, ALL of my Dual Blade builds include Evade Extender 3 and at least Constitution or Marathon Runner 3. Sacrficing damage for comfort not only makes Dual Blades more fun, but also keeps me alive longer, and lets me more easily evade attacks like Glavenus's double slash or BV Vaal's weird breath attacks. Comfort skills help in runs ALL the time.

1. Status thresholds don't scale up significantly in multiplayer, getting 3 poisons in casual solo play will equate to at LEAST 2 poisons in casual multiplayer play. 2. Having poison ticking while running around chasing the monster is better than not dealing any damage while running around? 3. The amount of damage poison brings makes Gold Rathian LS equal to playing like a god with Hellish Slasher, EVEN AT 1 STAR weakness to poison (There are no monsters immune to poison, except Zorah Magdaros) 4. 10% Natural affinity on Gold Rathian LS more than makes up for Hellish Slasher's base dmg WITH Non-Elemental Boost, not even counting poison. Accounting for defensive skills and sub-optimal play, Gold Rathian LS deals more damage than Hellish Slasher at all times. The only reason anyone should use Hellish Slasher is to farm Shara Tenderplates because poison damage doesn't go toward breaking the head.

The math has been down by many people many times. All monsters except for volcano boy can be poisoned. Procing it even once makes it out damage all other long swords. Your point on multiple poison weapons was spot on though. But that doesn’t really matter when gold rathian still does a lot of damage. Sorry but it’s actually just better.

The only fair argument Chris makes is that bringing 2 poison weapons to a group hunt has diminishing return when it comes to the actual poison damage. Aside from that specific instance, even monsters that resist poison die quicker from Goldie LS (in solo play that is) and there's no need to change loadouts against those. And I'm not even taking in account the fact that poison could actually prolong your dps uptime when you can't just attack the monster (Diablos/Tigrex doing their thing, monsters flying etc). The problem is that Goldie LS is just a stat stick and there's no counter-argument to that. Oh yes that and also the fact that Zorah LS is, as a matter of fact, a very hard weapon to pilot in realistic scenarios so it's never the most recommended LS to use.

Good video but one caviat: Literally every monster in the game is weak to poison, _especially_ in single player. Then there's the fact Longsword is a fast hitting weapon, in theory, you can poison a monster once per area change. While anecdotal, my Palico was capable of this feat with the Rathian Palico weapon. If you are teamed with at least one other poison weapon user, rest of the video still stands. The only monster in the game immune to poison? _Zorah Magdaros_... All in all, kinda underrating the Gold Rathian Longsword a bit.

For those who are using the team darkside LS build with teostra's waist and dont like or dont use the explosion damage, you can switch garuga legs for arch tempered teostra legs and put a more useful waist like brute tigrex. And go for the decorations you want, and master's touch stills on.

Just recently started using longsword during iceborne and I am having so much fun, before this revelation I always wanted to use it but was too afraid of messing up others hunts so I stuck with the hammer as a hammer main. I am a long way of perfection the weapon but I am quickly getting a hang of this as I have good compatibility with the weapon I guess.

I run Health Boost 3, Weakness Exploit 3 & Stun Resistance 3 in basically all of my sets. Plus all of my weapons run Health Augments. I can't remember the last time I fainted in MHW. Those skills make me an absolute damage tank & even if I'm getting hit around constantly, I can always make distance & heal up since I don't stun. Also with the correct armor pieces, you sacrifice VERY few jewel spots so you can still get all of your damage, affinity & enhancement skills. Can't go wrong!

My personal favorite LS is the Nargacuga one because you don’t need handicraft to get purple sharpness and it does a shit ton of damage. Just upgrade it’s slot cap to max and augment it for attack as many times as possible and maybe one gem slot. You can literally max out crit eye, attack boost, agitator, weakness exploit, crit boost, health boost and fit non elemental boost in too with the set in the video. You could also swap the rex roar mail for the kirin jacket and max out crit eye just with the armor.

At first I was also obssessed with meta, but then I started customizing the builds I saw and found out I actually don't need half of the sht I see on the initial build. The most important for me is identifying the "core" skills needed for the weapon you're using. So I came up with 3 distinct category which are Comfy dps, Elemental dps and Suicide dps (max glass dps that I rarely use) for each weapon. Despite starting in World now in Rise, I can't wait for the next iteration of the series.

Here's what I use: Hammer set - max slugger, max flinch free Light bowgun/Archer set - Partbreaker, Earplus, Bombardier. No matter what gear it is I'll be always apply decorations to help with those buffs and if the gear has good stat buffs then add onto that and so on.

Hh is not very good at healing since the heal songs take a long time and heal to little also they sheith time is Very long making wide range bad as well i suggest sword and Shield or light bowgun. But If you really want to support your friends and use hh at the same time then Just use a hh with the bazel song list and use the New note and the Green note to spread some heal bubbles around and keep health recovery up all the time.

good insights.. and it applies to all weapons. i always put health +2/3 and eat mostly elemental defense food. i can farm fast enough but i'm not a pro speedrunner who redo the monsters countless times to get the fastest time.. the set can be the meta but the person on the controller is what matters. well that's what makes mh good. we can build the set we are comfortable with.
