Never understood why people would complain about ledges or whatever... even setting up the correct positioning and flinch/stun thresholds so that you can take advantage of ledges in the first place takes preparation, knowledge, and skill. Glad to see you and pepo showin off for all the hammer bros 💪

Because it is disruptive when you don't need it. You want to an attack. Too bad, the ledge takes away you're ability to . The monster is above the ledge. Guess I can't hit the head now. You want to charge your hammer to hit a lvl 3 charge. Nope, lets start sliding. I eventually got used to it, but man it is still annoying. Not to mention that you automatically climb walls, when in previous games you had to press a button. Allowing for bullshit like running away from HR Nergigantes Dive Bomb, only to start climbing a crystal burst pillar and then subsequentially dying to the attack. Fucking Capcom.

If a monster is distracted by a pod or stone you can clutch claw on their head and it’ll take a few seconds to react, so it’s a free tenderize or flinch shot before the fight starts

PP gives you 20 attack and Agitator gives you 20 attack +15 affinity. MR monsters stay angry for a long time so I'd say tht agitator is much better

Hey man I recently saw a video where a guy did the maths and found that the old GS hit and run playstyle was really good. What do you think?

You won't get faster times using a crit draw set, you have to play aggressively in order to KO the monster and then keep trip locking it. Using the hit and run playstyle means you have to allow the monster to attack first before you can hit it and therefore you will be dealing less dps overtime. Also when the monster is Koed your first charged hit will do massive damage but the follow up attacks will see diminishing results because your affinity will no longer be at 100% because crit draw will no longer apply and frost craft will start decaying. But it is pretty good for multiplayer since the staggering values are so much higher making it extremely hard to keep monsters Koed constantly, and agile monster since you don't have those long animation commitment combos to deal good dps.

By limp do you mean how monsters turn into drooling messes just sitting there? Because I REALLY hate that they added such a thing in the game... If you are the kind that goes full force into doing damage it's too easy because monsters are like attacking the training pole level of hard so it's not fun whatsoever and if you are the kind that likes to HAME/flinchlock then it just ruins the flow and turns the hunt into a pain:/

No, limping is when they are literally limping away from the area to rest in their resting area. The flinch where they stay in one spot is necessary for clutch claw usage. And how could that animation be bad for damage. This comment is very confusing.

@@ewngzedward6182 Yeah, figured he meant the actual limp ages ago lol I know the difference, don't worry:p And no, it's not necessary, you can VERY easily clutch during roars with rocksteady or while they are doing most attack animations that don't use the part you are clutching on (eg: clutching on a Rath's head is safe and only way for you to fall off is if they fireball or backflip). As long as you know how the monster moves, then you can clutch at pretty much anytime you want, no need for the stupid flinch where they stay still. As for how it's bad for damage, it's because you have to move next to the monster to attack it while it does it, ruining the flow. Just look at Daora GS runs for example where you absolutely NEED it to flinch in order to lock it down, but instead of being flinchlocked, it reels back and does that animation, cancelling the entire strategy so then you have to restart the lockdown (which is a complete pain). Needless to explain, missing the flinchlock on a monster when you are using a weapon like GS with crap movement speed is VERY bad for damage.

@@tho_tho It is still an easier way to get the clutch claw off than hoping that RNG lets you get the clutch claw or you happen to have a Mantle. As for GS runs, it is still possible to easily get the lock after he finishes the animation since he always returns to the position he was already in so you can hit him with a well timed charged attack. It feel it does ruin the flow as you make it out to be. Heck, I would argue that the clutch claw softening timer ruins the flow of runs moreso.

@@ewngzedward6182 Easier doesn't mean better, it's not worth ruining the entire feel of the fight just to allow clutch claw use you know. Monsters like Tigrex or Nargacuga are meant to be really fast and aggressive predatory monsters, yet the clutch flinch interrupts the way the fight is meant to be and you can't tell me they don't give you plenty of openings to get the clutch normally with Tiggy for example always jumping back before roaring giving you enough time to soften a part... And monsters don't return to the exact position, just a similar one, so still possible to miss the lock AND having to wait for that is effectively +10 seconds or so each time which makes TA flinchlocks next to impossible! Softening as a mechanic isn't bad, it's great for Gold/Silver/Uragaan to soften head until you break it (which turns it into a proper weakspot), but there should be less forcing to use the clutch in all honesty is my point.

@@tho_tho I don't think it is that bad at all. It is still doable. Locks are too op, so it is a well implemented nerf. The clutch flinch is still helpful to be around since you are less likely to get hit during and after a clutch softening. Not to mention that some weapons need to clutch attack twice in order to soften a part, so the clutch flinch is a blessing for them. TA flinch locks are still possible. People just need to work a little harder. And to be honest, the whole clutch claw mechanic feels too mandatory. Since WE was nerfed and tied behind the clutch claw, players are now put into a situation where they have to clutch all the time in order to do decent damage. If the clutch attack was just to soften parts that are hard, it wouldn't feel so mandatory in every fight.
