This is still my favourite movie. But it is not for kids. There are some pretty hardcore things in the movie that was not shown in mainstream movies then. Like cutting a guy's finger, the mountain scene, injecting oneself with a virus, beach fight. There are so many hard scenes throughout. Even if this movie was released today, it wouldn't collect like corny generic action movies of today like superhero movies. To me this was the only serious MI movie and established Tom Cruise as a superhero in kids' hearts. Also John Woo brings an element of hardness to any movie he takes. Face off is an example. He's not a money guy. After some movies he just made some Chinese war epics.

This is such a bad movie. The usual John Woo stunt-set piece-slow motion-over the top-crap. Everyone takes 200 kicks to the head (except the not so important ones), motorcycles switch tyres from slicks to dirt, every action scene is a "ballet of death"! Am I watching an MI movie or a Hong Kong 90s shoot while somersaulting in slowmo cop-flick? Everything is bad. This movie caused covid and the 2016 election years after its release and killed the all the dolphins that played Flipper years before. It just contaminates the world with bad things. MI1, MI4, MI5, MI6, MI7pt1 are all great action movies. MI2 is just national socialism and communism and Putin and Steven Seagal's love child. Pure horror. This movie is what Brando was talking about before Sheens blade cuts finished him off.
