Mi-24P Hind Module review

My short review on the Mi-24P hind, a module I did not like at first but have grown into one of my favorite modules.

You summed up my view of the Hind pretty well. I really like the module and it is my favorite "attack" helicopter. One thing I see people do is compare it to the Apache and view the HIND as some sort of Soviet equivalent. This is a big mistake because they are very different aircraft, which began operating in different decades and with much different goals in mind. I see the HIND as more of a VSTOL Frogfoot. You can takeoff from a FARP close to the front but you attack ground targets like an airplane. Another thing I like is the lack of MFD's. I don't really enjoy pressing buttons and staring at screens while sitting in front of a computer staring at a screen and pressing keys on a keyboard. I much prefer the "steam gauges" and rough Soviet style cockpit of the HIND. Also, thanks for actually spending some time learning the machine before banging out a "review" twelve hours after the module releases.

I have thought something very similar about the Hind with respect to it being like a frog.

I recently bought the hind in January, it has easily become my favorite heli out of all of them. I really appreciate your older tutorial videos on it! Helped me a lot :)

No you are not crazy, there is a discord ping at 0:19 and 3:24.

0:38 The Mi-24P carries a GSH-30-2, which is a 30mm dual barrel cannon and not a 23mm one. The GSH-23-2 was mounted as a sivel gun on the Mi-24VP, a later variant

I'm still puzzled why they didn't give us one of the swivel gun variants. Much more fun for 2 player.

@@GruntyGame most players fly it on their own, so the GHS-30 makes more sense since it it much more useful than a 50.

@@henryoshea4951 I see your point, but if I wanted an effective single player Soviet tank buster I'd rather a full fidelity Su-25. For me the swivel gun would add much more fun factor and would be totally worth not having the 30mm cannon.

@@GruntyGame Fair enough, but for myself and most other cold war rotorheads who fly solo more than we do multicrew the 30mm is much better to have. In our eyes the low fidelity Su-25 is no substitute for the full fidelity Hind

Thanks for the video. Nice summary, it is like this awesome mix of an Apache and a Mi-8. Though i do think it is a fair bit too tanky, specialy vs gunfire, but so much fun, and very stable too thanks to a very good AP/SAS. And it is very fast for a helo, sounds great too. The only real drawback for me is the absolutely aweful RWR. Btw, the R-60's are pretty good to shoot down incomming sams :D

How does this thing fly with just the stick twist instead of actual pedals? I've only flew the Huey yet

Cant answer that since I always used pedals. Can imagine it way more of a challenge but one can get used to anything

I fly it with a twist and it is stable as she gets when you get up to speed. Landing takes a while to get used to.
