First off, this is video of us playing, All Alright live but the audio is the studio version that I just released to all the streaming services. We filmed other songs the same day for a live broadcast on a Nashville television show if you’d like to hear how the band actually sounded that day.
All Alright is clearly a song about some of the struggles of 2020 but to me, it’s mostly about putting all of the struggles behind us and coming out ready to have fun :) As I see it, whatever survives this year was either built to adapt or learned how to along the way.
I had two co-writers on this song and a guest guitarist on the solo section. Palmer Lee is a well established songwriter here in Nashville and Smith Curry is a writer and a first-call, steel guitar & dobro studio musician. The guitar solo was recorded by Max Frey on the same night as our one rehearsal for the TV show gig. The rest of the tracks and the mix were done by me in my usual spot in my basement. Max is a Nashville musician and artist that I met playing at a Rare Hare show last year. The other two band members are Jack Bagwell on bass and Tasji Bachman. This gig was the first time I’d met Jack but I’ve played for Tasji many times at the Listening Room in downtown Nashville.
This and all my other songs can be found on Spotify or any of the other streaming platforms. I get asked about CD’s from time to time but at this point, I only have plans to release songs digitally. I’ve got lots more to come so thank you very much for all of your interest and support. If you follow me on Spotify, you will get a notification when I release any new song and the service even has a free version. This is a link that will take you directly to my Spotify landing page if you want to learn more: open.spotify.c...
Liking, saving and especially, putting my songs into playlists all increase the chances of Spotify deciding to share my music with a much larger audience so your support can absolutely make the difference in my success. Thanks again to all of you that have responded to my request for support on that platform. I see all the streams, saves and downloads and I can see the supporters that I have are streaming a lot and I really, really appreciate it.
I’m 16 years old, and I want to be a professional musician when I grow up. I try to play many instruments but the one that I feel most at home on is a drum set. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great songwriter so I also spend much of my time trying to learn the magic of songwriting. I thought it would help me keep focused on music if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. After 5 years, it’s now turned into a larger musical search but my goal hasn’t changed. Hopefully, I will keep doing it, keep loving music and keep getting better.

Here and there and wherever, I catch up to you, MiaMia, doing a different version of a song I've heard you do before. I think we, the listeners, have a built in bias towards pre-judging this new version by assuming it has a 'mud in your ear' flaw of some sort. So, being the masochist that I must be, I wait for it to fly. Then, almost invariably, these new notes magically come out to play like fireflies in the meadow when the moon has gone. A splash of fireworks of many colours smears the sky. It could be rock 'n' roll! It's different. It's delicious. It's Mia going somewhere she invented. So I think, though I've nearly forgotten how, why doesn't she catch these electric colourful moments and keep them together in a bottle for that moment in her musical reverie when she must give all and set them free.

:) surely, there is no cooler feeling than to hear that.. I get chills, and sometimes actually emotional when I'm at a show and that happens for some band I'm watching.. The crowd makes a bunch of regular voices into something absolutely magical and perfect. Sorry to ramble but yeah, I've thought about it :)

man! i'm with ya Sammy. For the longest time, i was always thinking I might have to choose between playing drums and being an, "artist" - but maybe not. There are certainly some specific challenges tho.. playing drums makes me breath heavy sometimes which complicates singing and standing up to play drums takes a leg to stand on.. but whatever :) it's a blast and I get to be.. me!

@@miamorrismusic That's cool. Just don't go the way of Miley and get nasty & vulgar, or Taylor and get all political. That's the quickest way to lose respect... and fans. You may gain some fans that way, but they are superficial, shallow, and will drop their support (and try to cancel you) if you don't say or do what they want you to. just stay true to the music and you'll do fine.

If you use Spotify, be sure to follow Mia Morris, then like and playlist her songs too. They say you need to break an egg to make an omlet, and this is in partly how I describe 2020. That messy part of a process to get something better in the future. 2020 sure is not the year of choice for most, but one silver lining is your music Mia. It's so great to hear, and adds some joy into this topisy tervy start to the decade. Your music is fab, and more and more peoples ears are starting to pick up when they hear the name Mia Morris. Thanks for this 6th masterpievce you and your team have released this year. It truly is appreciated. You keep releasing them, and I will keep doing my part by kicking back and enjoy the results of your hard work. I wont forget to buy a download, like and share as well as playlist too of course. Its the least I can do. It's so great to see Time's Up is fast approaching 50K streams on Spotify already too, along with STFU and Stacy's Song. I wonder which will be your first song to clock up 50K this year? Though that first 100K is what I am really waiting to see clock over for you. Thanks for the great music MIa, Enjoy your weekend.

Fantastic Mia. I hear snippets of Foo Fighters and Green Day and I love it. You have a great bunch of musicians up there with you. Loving the stand up drums, but can't help wondering if they are more difficult to play like this, especially the kick drum. Seems this is a bit of a halfway house between sitting playing the drums and being out front with the microphone alone. Whatever direction you take from here I'm sure you will make it successful. Whether it be drumming, singing or an all round musician. Talent is there in bucket loads, it's your call. Take care Mia and let's all get through this horrible time, which is made easier by you and people like you lifting everyone's spirits. 👍

Thank you for taking so much time with any of my original efforts. You're right on about the stand-up kit. You lose a limb to standing and it's certainly not the most conducive to complex drumming. Also, breath control is made a lot harder by the physical aspects of drumming.. With all that tho, it's a heck of a lot of fun and I think it's pretty entertaining to really get to see drummers work. I'm gonna keep hunting for ways to pull this off and hope to be able to branch off in longer sets to other instruments as well :)

i'm completely down with that.. Actually, being an alt rock or pop/punk artist in Nashville is not what pub companies are used to but I think my writing fits with sync stuff like movies & video games and I'd love to do that. Thanks for taking the time.

Mia Morris When a song really fits, it can become an inseparable part of an even bigger experience. Don't You (Forget About Me), by Simple Minds, is a great example. Breakfast Club *needed* that song. Of course, writing a score *for* a movie, and writing a song that ends up *in* a movie are two different things, but I think writing with a "bigger picture"/vibe in mind, is key. You do that very well. 👍👍

Good song, lots of fun, love the beat, the look, I really like the guitar solo. A bit early for that message though in my humble opinion. Too many people taking a chance and regretting it these days and I'm not sure it's a good idea to encourage them to do so yet. Still, I always look forward to what you will come up with next. That's all my "fatherly" advice for today. ;-)

Hi Mia, this is certainly my favorite of all your hi tempo energetic songs, I love the melody in the chorus, it is very inventive and original, I have listened to the song about 30 times now, and I suppose you've understood that in general, I listen to the creations of the artists I support microsecond by microsecond in order to make the most beneficial feedback possible if I would dare, but I know that it can be misinterpreted since it can look like a list of wrong points that add themselves to make a wrong whole instead of lil percents to substract from 100% good, so it can hurt way more than it legitimately should and that is nothing I would wanna do in any case. So tonight, let's say that it's perfectly ... all alright - at least to me ( as I have no pretention to be representative of the mass at all ). But however, in fact, it's pretty closed to that bc my constructive criticism would concern very small details. Also, your tom on the left is very funky, I love watching this balanced kit, and though I'm not a big fan of any show off behaviour in general, I have to admit that your stick joggling is pretty aesthetical.

Sorry it took me a bit to answer and I'm about to walk on stage.. but, I always appreciate thoughtful feedback even if it's quite critical. Really digging in, thinking about and listening to the songs I write is the highest complement you can give me. Here we go!!!!

@@miamorrismusic Hi Mia, same for me, it took me some time to reply, bc yesterday was a shopping day for me and since I have this huge enormous gigantic ptsd, it's always a very hard trial for me, and it was no exception, in fact it was an ordeal, a new stage was passed but I'll come back on that later in the comment. So 1st, like I promised, here's a list of the points I would have made different to fit my personal taste, remember it is just my own opinion and feelings, I don't pretend it should be better for anybody else. So I'll add this parenthesis before : in my point of vue, constructive feedbacks the best gifts to offer to an artist, what you like and more important, what you don't and then why, so that she or he can be guided for the future about what works and what doesn't and obviously this is efficient if every commenter does the same, otherwise it's pretty useless, this is why I'm not a big fan of the way most people comment on YT, it doesn't really make sense to me. End of parenthesis. 1- All the breathings we hear at the end of almost all your vocal phrases, maybe it's a choice made on purpose and I understand it can be effective sometimes in order to suit with the meaning of the words, but I think here it's really too much. 2- About your vocal choice as well, I would have chosen ( choosed ? idk ) a voice a lil bit more "acid candy" on this one, with a sound coming more from the top of the lungs, a more controlled and limited airflow and the vocal cords more pinched, especially in the verse, in the chorus it's perfect, and I know it's hard in the low frequencies, but the subject is light, so imo, less gravity in the voice sounds better ( this is really a very small detail I know and it may look a bit crazy sorry ) ; on the word "morning sun", at the contrary, more opening and more airflow might be better bc it sounds a bit like if your nose is stuffy ( even smaller detail haha, how to be sure people understand I don't mind looking ridiculous, but you, know, voice is like a saxophone, every µs matters ) 3- about the sustained notes in everybOdy tAke, vIctim Of the cIrcumstances, I would sing way more wavy, at least one wave ( up down or down up ) or 2 ( up down up or down up down ) or simply a vibrato, and this is the first thing that disturbed me in your interpretation 4 about the composition : like you know if you read my last comment on Time's up, I'm not a super fan of monotonal phrases that you use sometimes in the chorus of your songs, here it's in the verse. I really do believe that the power of melody is underestimated in the conception of modern music theorists who see it all through harmony and chord progression ( my intimate approach, how my brain works about creating music is totally turned towards melodic construction ) , and like I said before, monotoanal phrases are an enemy of melody, but melody marks the minds very effciently ; sometimes of course, a game of rythm can be enough to make it as well, and I'm sure there are a lot of successful songs with some monotonal phrases , but not most though I think. 5 Finally, in the very final notes of the solo, that is excellent, the composer insists 3 times on a sharp D that should, for my taste, be flatted at least once if not too. So that's it, yesterday I entered again into a very hopeless period bc I witness events that make my body ache and they have a probability that is so low that it can't happen by random so regularly, I don't understand the game behind that, but I have been running for 30 years of my life in order to get the right to know at least a little moment of peace in it and it seems it's not supposed to ever happen, no matter what I do ; for me, the only real true song is all about endless running and surviving it, all the rest is just peanuts and jokes, so it's completely useless to try anything constructive anywhere, nor here neither anywhere else. I am on God 's side but it's not reciprocal at all, I am definitely out of strenght so, again, I will stop commenting on your channel ; I'm not complaining about anything, just explaining why, in case you'd notice and be surprised.
