Late reply I know lol but I wondered the same. But in my experience people who are so cheerful and laughing all the time have this as a trained social behaviour to cope with vulnerability and all kinds of emotions. So she might actually be upset in one moment but laughing it off and if you don't know her really well you won't notice. It's basically a facade. But it makes it really hard for people in their lives because they might be overstepping lines and don't notice. People like this can feel ungenuine sometimes because they show a happy face to you but you find out later they were actually angry about something you did. I really hope this is not the case with Mama Maples though.
