Love your content but disagree on Tennessee and OU. No one knows what the new look SEC is going to be. I'm looking at recruiting, and yes UGA and Bama are killing it, but so our UTenn and OU. Both should have their second Top 10 classes in a row, and are getting the players at the positions you need to win. DL and QB. Only UGA and Bama have won with middling QB's because of their defenses, but both OU and UTenn are building good defensive classes as well as signing game-channging QB's. An undefeated SEC Champ is going to be hard to find going forward, but that team will be well seasoned. Coaches change and so will their program, but it's the arrogant programs that fall.

Many 5 stars have fizzled out that were labeled "game changing" UT and oklahoma had stellar recruiting classes back in the 2000s and didnt accomplish much and havent since. OU has a brand new coach, got its roster raped from the exodus of Riley and played the majority of the year with 2nd and third team guys. They had the 8th best recruiting class just after they lost their coach and then followed that with the 5th best class and are trending to land the 2 maybe 3 top 10 defensive lineman in 24. The ONLY thing holding them back all these years have been the big 12 and their ability to recruit big time defensive players the SEC will change that and already is. OU will be a factor in the SEC and playoff picture for years to come.

To rule out OU is just dumb, they just signed a top 5 class in Brent’s first year as a coach. They signed the number 4 overall class despite having the one off year. All the move to the sec does is boost their ability to recruit. Not to mention they’re recruiting the positions that matter: DL and Qb. Not to mention OU is a pure blue blood school. Even if brent doesn’t work out they’ll still be a nationally relevant program.

I’m not saying any or all these teams will win a natty in the near future, but I think it’s interesting that he picked teams that last won one in the late 1980s when we’ve seen 2 teams win multiple titles after long title droughts since the early 80s (Clemson and Georgia). The sport is rapidly evolving and so wouldn’t surprise me if some teams return to dominance in the coming years.

They’ve also been a play away from the natty 3x the past 23 years outside of the two they’ve won. Even Nick Saban is on record YEARS ago saying if Georgia can get the head coach right, they could be in the natty convo year after year There’s no sign of Washington winning a 3rd any time soon, especially in a playoff scenario. If you’re not recruiting in the top 5, you’re not winning a natty in the playoff era….you don’t have the depth or the talent to beat teams in the top 12 back to back to back. “If Georgia didn’t win it this past year….” Is like sayin if Saban didn’t win 7 nattys he wouldn’t be considered the goat….it’s a moot point because it did happen. Surprised about the OU take. Since the 50s, OU has been winning national championships at an average of about 12 years, they are the winningest program in college football, and they were 4-0 against SEC teams in the last few years prior to 2017, with a win against Florida coming later in 2020 and a close match with the now dynasty that is Georgia in 2017. They made the Natty in 2003,2004, and 2008 after Bob Stoops won his in 2000, so you can’t say Oklahoma is “special” only because of Riley. Teams that almost immediately win a Natty after new defensive coaches in prior years: Georgia 2016;2017 Kirby Smart’s first year was 2016 with a bit of a rocky start, and his second season saw an overtime appearance in the natty, while now they have won back-to-back. Alabama 2007-2009 Nick Saban’s first year was similar to OU’s with Venables and Georgia with Kirby. Their second season got much better and after the 2009 Texas Natty win, the dynasty started and the rest is history. OU 1999-2000 Bob Stoops had a bad first year, but then brought OU to an undefeated season and a Natty in year two. Hell even Clemson became relevant because of Venables. Clemson was fortunate to have Venables’ defense paired with great quarterbacks like DeShawn Watkins and Trevor Lawrence. They literally held Alabama to 16 points the last time they played! Overall, I disagree with Tennessee not winning one, and Nebraska not winning one, with a higher probability that Michigan has over Florida State. And yeah, I’m a Sooner fan if you couldn’t tell by now 😅.

Writing Tennessee off is silly- wasn’t too long ago Bama was looking bad. Oklahoma is another bad pick- WAY too early to judge Venables. He stepped into a gutted Oklahoma scene. The only SEC teams that I would bet against winning a natty are Vandy, Mizzou, Kentucky, Miss St. and USCarolina.

And for all the controversy surrounding the playoffs, it's funny how the committee got it right. It seems to me that pretty much every year in the playoff era that the best team in the country has won the natty. Your comments about Georgia Tech and the 1990 title season: Here's a little trivia for you. As I recall. late in the 1990 season the number one ranked team in the country was Virginia. Yes, that's right, Virginia. I believe Ga Tech might have been second. They go up to Charlottesville and upset the Cavaliers. Back then the head coach at Ga Tech was Bobby Ross, and he took the window of opportunity he had and went to the NFL and becomes head coach of the chargers. So Ga Tech turns around and hires Bill Lewis who was the head coach at East Carolina. That year ECU finished 11--1, the best record in program history. I think Bill Lewis lasted two or three years at Tech before he was fired and no one has ever heard of him since. Ga Tech has never recovered. Lou, if you read this , perhaps there's one thing you can answer for me, and it's this: why does Notre Dame get the attention it does? It just doesn't make sense. They haven't won anything since Lou Holtz was there. They produce good teams but they aren't sniffing a championship. Everybody knows this. So why do they matter so much? In all the expansion talk they are the most coveted team. They could walk into any conference they want. Their football team is decent but their basketball team is dead last in the ACC. I think their lacrosse team is good but that's it. Why do they matter? Makes no sense.

Some people keep saying that low seeds would never win a 12 team playoff, but didn’t UGA and Bama play a national championship game at the 3 and 4 seed in 2017? I’m not saying a Wisconsin type team would come from the 10 seed and sweep up, but couldn’t a two loss UGA, Bama, or LSU be in contention still? Plus extra game mean extra injuries. Say, god forbid, a star QB on a stellar team has a season-ending injury in the playoffs. That might end their run, opening the door for a less-stellar team to win.
