Let’s say they don’t trade for salary… how do they add talent to the roster this offseason? The mid-level exception? You think a MLE player is going to be more impactful for them than LaVine?

@@UtilitySportsif you think they are not contenders with Jimmy, they’re not going to be contenders without Jimmy. The best option is clear cap space or get GOOD contracts back. Taking on Bradley Beal or Lavine is going to hinder them. This gives the Heat a year to help develop their young players like Jaquez and ware, force bam to take more shots, and you have your pick in 2026.

@@UtilitySportsif they trade for bad contracts, it’s going to take more than 3 second rounders to get off Lavine or Beal’s money so what’s the point of getting them in the first place. Right now a team would not trade anybody even in the all star conversation for Beal and 3 seconds. Nobody. So why would the Heat go and add long term money with no actual assets back

Jimmy might not be worth a full unprotected first because of the contract situation, but that doesn’t mean you have to go after the worst contracts in the league. The alternative is much better to just let him play out the season. Hopefully you make some sort of second round run and either let Jimmy walk and focus on 2026 or hope he does well in the playoffs and have a sign and trade with more teams having flexibility in the off season. Jimmy isn’t walking and signing a max or even close, the nets are the only team with space and they’re not paying him that. Any team that wants Jimmy needs the Heat
