Absolutely brilliant footage. Thanks for sharing this, unfortunately there are not much similar videos from Tehran before revolution. I was born after revolution and sadly never experienced those days when Iran was progressing and everything was so beautiful like in the video.

I was 15 when I first went to Iran back in 2011. A very stunning country with spectacular beauty and some of the richest cultures and civilizations ever. Iranians were (and still are) extremely welcoming and friendly and oh my... the food was divine :P Miss that country so much

Yes, played the Twisted Wheel. Quite the smart set at the 007 club, long hours playing but an adventure. It was there I met the lady who was to become my wife of 42 years, (she's English).

This is a very interesting video, it is surprising how different Iran was back then. The parts you were in (around the bazaar) are where the conservatives live and you can see that through the way women are dressed. Lots of love to this beautiful country from your neighbor across the Gulf : Oman :D

Amazing, thanks for getting in touch. What memories we had too. I met my wife there. Ah yes, the orange taxis. We used to take one up Pahlavi Avenue to the Hilton for breakfast after we finished in the 007. We also met & played for the Shah, arranged by Mahoud (Mike) Gorbahni, now in the US. Good to see you're still at it, I had a look at your FB, I'm on FB The Matchstalk Men.

Yes we did meet Googoosh several times, and saw her sing. At the time she was married to Mahmoud Ghorbani who was the brother of the owner of the Miami hotel. We never returned after we left in 1969.

Thanks - I enjoyed that. Was due to go live in Tehran in 1979 but.....well, we all know what happened that year. Often have a "what if" moment, even now.

As you can see in the film, there is a mix of styles. I read on Wikipedia that it was the previous shah who banned the chador as it was thought to be a barrier to modernisation. It was no longer banned after his death in 1941.

Hello! Great video....i noticed that the majority of women shown in this video are wearing the chador. I had always read that the shah banned this in public, how intensely was it enforced, if at all? During that time did the majority of women wear chadors/hijab in Tehran?
@hf33303 жыл бұрын
There was no enforcement at all!.... Propaganda news you heard by hypocrite priests called ‘mollahs=akhoond’ Wearing hijab(chador) for women has always been a barbaric tradition since Arabs seized The Land of Persia in 600 B.C.
@francomarra3783 жыл бұрын
@@hf3330 Barbarian tradition for you as you are atheist but the Hijab Is the base of Coran and Is not your business. Moreover during Shah Reza it was free wear chador or not. Because he was respecting the religeous Iranian citizens. If you are complaining about Hijab obligation why don't you complain right now about wearing mask obligation for the fantsy pandemic emergency?

Oh yes, LPs Oscar, Twighlight Asylum and Cobblestone Heroes released between 75-77. Since you were from Manchester I suppose you went to the Twisted Wheel Club in the Sixties ?? The Tehran Club 007 Psychedelic Club looks pretty smart. How was the gig and the audience ? Lot of Iranian beauties in kinky boots and mini skirts or more mid aged hotel guests ?? :-) Cheers
