@@rioquibu why? because public transit is how every world class city deals with their traffic issues, not by making more lanes for more cars. what do you think is going to happen with all that traffic on the double decker when they get off in downtown? or in Miami Beach? cars wont disappear. if the metro gets expanded more people would use it, maybe not you but thats ok. We still need Lyft and Uber. 😉

Wait until you find out the money was supposed to be for a major Metrorail expansion, but they chose the bridge instead... Also, turns out one of the commissioners who voted for the bridge is married to a part-owner of the construction company conveniently chosen to spearhead the project.

Miami is currently experiencing the worst housing crises in history but let's spend billions on a pretty arche. With so many homeless people just a few blocks away and people struggling to pay their rent this is a slap in the face.

Nice video. What is really crazy is that they sell the idea of a nice walking park under a mega highway. Who in their right mind will go under the noise and pollution of a mega highway and think it is nice? And the insane amount of money being spent is just as crazy. Most people can't really work out those numbers. As comparison Copenhagen in Denmark spent over a period of 10 years a total of USD 200M in bike infrastructure making it top notch and including some 18 new bridges mostly over waterways. Last but not least it will take less time to get all these new lanes congested than it took to get it built and the end result is just more noise and air pollution. In city areas the best place for highways is underground and mass transit and bike & walking alternatives are way more efficient.

The "work from home" era has reduced public transportation utilization considerably. I'd say not until everyone goes back to work from an office that metrorail will be expanded.

New buildings came out this year, I saw two of them basically, I see purple street lights when I go to expressway I’ve never seen them before and I can’t wait to see this bridge and any other future buildings in next other years man

I don't have a problem improving highways, that fancy arch is unnecessary and not needed. That money should be used on expanding Tri Rail or Metrorail to Homestead and FIU

Thanks for the vid. Just visited Miami in Feb '23 from Canada and noted these huge foundation pieces rising above the level of the freeway. After this video my wondering is over. Now I'll need to come back in 2026 to view these amazing arches. They are going to be stunning.

I appreciate this video, but I still don't understand what this bridge is bypassing. It's basically a "Land Bridge" is only over land and will connect to the existing highway that traverses Biscayne Bay, right? I also like the design, and happy that there was budget to allow for lighting, which is very important for nighttime aesthetics.

Miami can find the money to fund a "signature" bridge , but not affordable housing in the heart of Miami/Overtown? How much more economic abuse does the Overtown need? First segregation, then underserved now gentrified.

This bridge if you can even call it that is absolutely horrendous, what a waste. It has no beauty and it doesn't accomplish any engineering feet whatsoever. Maybe we should be worried about making their rail system more expensive and not relying so heavily on cars, getting more green space and densifying the city as a whole... Miami is still at town, it's got a long way to go to be a city, much more a world class one...

As a native Miamian, most people in this city agree this is a colossal waste of money. Instead of giving us money to "spruce up" and gentrify the surrounding areas of Downtown, this money could have been used to expand Mass transit systems already in existence (MetroRail, MetroMover). But no, the State of Florida is not very progressive on issues that actually plague our cities and I can't say the local dimwit politicians in this town are any different. Miami can never become a real metropolis unless it fixes it's problems that plague it.
