There is no practical side to getting certified for these pleasure craft vehicles so its either find a mentor to show you what to do, aim for the bushes and fain confidence on a busy dock or do the other smart thing which is practice on a quiet day on a quiet ramp.

Makes you wonder if your better off going to fee to launch dock. Supervisor controlled no issues. Used on a few years ago. In the line up signs Posted that at tgat point all your bow stern lines are in place floaties on board. Tie downs off. They had 2 ramps to go wet and 2 ramps going dry. Ran like clockwork. If your boat was not when your turn they wave you off and you do the go around .
@never2late4542 жыл бұрын
I have to say that as a boat owner it seems to be human nature as the boat approaches the dock for everyone inside the boat to automatically stand up as I'm shifting from forward to reverse, especially when fighting a rip current . The first thing I tell all my passengers is get out of the bow and stay seated in the back until I turn off the engine. Nothing pi$$ me off more than people walking around grabbing their stuff as I'm maneuvering to the dock .

I was crewing on a 17m (55.7ft) boat going through the Caledonian Canal. It's an amazing journey, going at 25knots through Loch Ness is an experience. You need to know that there are many lock gates on this passage. The lock keepers will try to cram in as many boats as possible to save water, so you need to be loosely tied to the canal wall. The skipper had brought a friend with him. This guy was a dimwit. When you are in a lock which is emptying the one thing that you don't want to do is tie off the rope on the bollard. If you do that once the rope is under tension you will not be able to loosen it. Your boat will now be lifted at one end. This guy was more interested in eyeing up the attractive tourists than doing his job.

I've been watching your channel for a while now and one thing I can never understand is why or how come these people have such a hard time boating. I have never taken a class or any professional courses. All I've had are ten-minute lessons (docking, trailering, driving the boat, boating etiquette) from my Dad, and never had any problems. I know not everyone has someone to learn from and that's why there are courses for people to take. If you can afford the boat, you can afford the courses! It's just a matter of time until someone gets seriously hurt or worse!
@baredog67742 жыл бұрын
If you can't use common sense and read a pamphlet with general boating rules, no course is going to help. I just never knew there we so many useless morons with money in the world. I was taught as you were, by my dad and never have any trouble doing basic boating. It's not that hard. Most of their problem comes when they throw it into reverse with the motor cut the wrong way. If you reverse to brake, always straighten up first.
