Under "normal" circumstances the FD would immediately set up a 'collapse zone' so they, and their truck don't become victims unable to help anyone else. The firefighters put themselves in grave danger moving the rig closer to the building to rescue people. They are heroes.

E Land : she "squashed panic" - such a perfectly described emotion. l felt this in a storm at sea. From alarm, a sudden miraculous transformation squashed my panic to calm, like a warm blanket. l will never understand it, but something helped me cope and to help others. Our mind and spirit can be phenomenal when put to the test. Truly bless this amazing survivor, those she lead, and all the people + animals who did not survive. Even if the other people who got crushed remained calm it wouldn't have made a difference. She was able to survive because her building didn't collapse. I would say 99% of people would panic with the floor, ceiling, and walls crumbling around them.

Shebwas never in any real danger. She is not a real survivor. Those few who survived in the building that actually collapsed are the real survivors.

Yes, unfortunately it will be similar to the 5% of modern military in actual extreme battle, or a surviver of the 2004 Thailand Sunami, the Haiti Earthquke, Ground Zero of Hurricane Katrina or the WTC on 9/11. This building collapse although swift, was definitive and she made wise choices. Healing to all those those suffered and there families.

I'm not at all trying to downplay what happened here. I have tremendous heart-felt sorrow for what happened to those who died or experienced this. But I do have one observation. The people who were in the part of the building that did not collapse, they didn't know this but technically their life was not in danger. So it do find it weird how they keep saying "how this person survived" when they weren't even in the collapse. I think that title should be reserved for those who actually fell with the building and survived - those are the true miracles.

While I certainly wouldn't have been praying at that time of night I have trouble sleeping and sometimes I'm about 1:30 reading. She's elderly, she can do what she wants.

I have elderly relatives that sleep 4 to 5 hours a night...the trend is that you sleep a whole lot less. That goes neither here or there on why she'd be up at 130am but depending on whether you get your sleep by one longer sleep or through naps, she could have been staying up until she's go to bed...or up between a nap. What luck for her

This is a beautiful survival story so out of respect STOP arguing if somebody says something about God if you don't believe just scroll up .For some people that is what keeps them going a believe in something people, she said her self she had finish praying don't know if she is Jewish, Christian, Moslem,Buddist, what ever but I bet this is keeping her strong and sane after that horrible experience.

My condolences to the victims of this tragedy. To think one moment you’re in your home, the next thing, you’re dead. It’s sad that in 2021, buildings are collapsing in America. This is the type of stuff you’d hear happening in developing countries, not the USA. So much for America, being quote on quote “the greatest nation in the world.” I hope the survivors of this catastrophe get recompensed for their sufferings and trauma.
