Good info. I believe the manufacturers switched from R-12 to R-134a back in '96, so my '97 may be good. BUT...my '97 had a build date of '96, so who knows. Do you know if there is a way to tell by looking if it is already using R-134a? I've already looked at the service manual, and it only says to use ND-Oil 9 refrigerant. So I guess I need to investigate that some more.

Because Miata hey bro i think your car should be good i think all n.a. 1.8 were already r13a but you can tell by the fittings mine was small looked like a bike valve.

That's funny I had an 8-bit mario from the original mario bros, that made out of that stuff, in my car for a while. 😃
