Good video, but thanks for playing the song @10:35. I never listened to The Midnight before watching your video, but I am a huge fan now.

Hi Dennis - good project - I have a 2009 NC Facelift and also ditched the Bose, going for a 2-DIN Pioneer naviceiver. I kept the original speakers, but bypassed the Bose amp. It's so much crisper and clearer. I have 800 CDs ripped to FLAC playing from a SD card or listen to digital radio. I'm no fan of Bose - to my ears it's too much signal processing and loss of fidelity (yes, I'm a hi-fi freak). You did well to document it on video. All the best, Rob in Switzerland

Thank you! I have recently put the original speakers back, currently considering other options.

Really late here, sorry. I have a 99 with the amp and original speakers still in but they are blown. Also, a few years ago I had a Boss double din headunit professionally installed. If I were to install some new speakers I got but without an amp (while still bypassing the Bose amp), do I need to do any wiring myself or will everything just "plug and play" directly?

No, but if you are not you should use a line out converter to reduce interference and increase volume. I did not want to use the converter mentioned 30 seconds into the video

To bypass the Bose amp if you have the Bose system. Otherwise the volume would be very loud at low volume.

This looks pretty simple but the biggest pain the ass is unplugging the amp. Mine is stuck pretty heavily

Good video! After trying repeatedly to do the Bose Amp Bypass with jumper wires, I decided to follow the diagram I found on Miata Forum and cut the wires behind the plug and connected them with butt connectors. The new Double DIN Pioneer works great!

@@dennisstafford108 That's good to know, thanks for the fast reply! I heard the Bose wiring setup has a different ohm impedance from most standard aftermarket speakers so I wasn't sure if I needed to buy some sort of adapter, etc. (Sorry if I've explained this badly, just started figuring this all out so getting my head around everything)

Hey, i upgraded to a kenwood unit and it had a amplifier output so i was able to use that. Radio works great! Problem is that ground cable you pulled off the old stereo, i have no idea what to do with it, but now my cars kicking a cel i cant check cuz it killed power to my obd2 port. Any ideas? Im debating cutting the tab off the old radio and soldering it to my kenwoods ground but not sure if thats why my obd2 died
@dennisstafford108 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear, I am unsure on that one. But for sure you need your obd2 port to work
@eluniversodelecuador Жыл бұрын
Try using a male spade connector with the ground wire coming from the new radio's hardness. It worked for me and I did not have to cut the OEM female spade ground wire at all!

@@JoeBradyPhoto I connected them to the old Bose wires. I'm still using the stock Bose amp, the stock amp works decently but you can only turn up the volume so much before it starts distorting. I didn't install a new amp because it was too much trouble lol
