Might want to emphasize that it is probably impossible to remove a lower shift boot from the shifter intact. I.E. be sure you have everything correct before sliding that boot on. Cheers!

I have a 2002 SE (6 speed, 187,000 mi). I need to repair leaks, which I am told often come from loose shifter boot bolts, so I'm figuring on rebuilding the shifter. What is your opinion on OEM vs. Performance shifter ? Can you point me in the direction of some brands and part numbers I should consider ? Thanks. ---- Rich

What lubrication do you recommend for Post 8\1\01 6 speed shifter ball and turret? Also, you don't mention how difficult it is to put the upper wave ring clip over the stock shifter or recommend how without bending or damaging it!

I got a bronze shifter bushing for my NA, now it won't shift into reverse, like something blocking it

when do you know you need to replace these pars please?

They are usually replaced if the shifter feels sloppy or you have a lot of noise and heat coming from the shifter area. But most cars will need these done at around 100K miles and above.
