Also, yes; mungiki was/is a real thing. I grew up in Murang'a, it was VERY common. Although I was young, I remember seeing/hearing things. People disappeared. I personally know people who got caught up. By the time I came of age most of sect activity had gone down rampantly as a result of the Michuki crackdowns. That saved me and the generation of my peers from these places because of these efforts, and also our parents cushioned us. Long story short, Mungiki may be still there but its not as common as in the early 2000s.
