RIP MIC continue making fantastic music wherever you are. You passed on some great life lessons to us before you had to leave. When i listen to your music it makes me proud to be Irish and know we have such talent. You were and still are an inspiration to this generation and generations to come. "This is our heyday baby, and we're not gonna be afraid to shout..."

I'm happy for Glen and what has happened with his career -- an academy award no less. I knew he had it in him and he seems like a happy person. He deserves all the success he can get. But I can't stop watching Mic. What an amazing talent. He sang (and wrote) from somewhere deep inside that touches people still. It touches me.

RIP Mic.... Good to see Glen is dedicating this song to him at the Frames concert, gone but not forgotten....

Mic was in a motor bike accident. He was working as a courier/messenger and someone hit him on his motor bike. It happened in the summer of 2000 and he was in traction. Having to convalesce he wrote "Heyday" which probably did have something to do with the accident and the brevity of things such as your heyday. Very sad; he's an amazing talent and I can't imagine the heights he could have reached.

mate I actually discovered this song after I stumbled on one of your songs by complete chance. It is one of the best songs I have ever heard and you Irish seem to have a knack of making songs that make a lasting impression. If you are the guy that sings bumble bee i have to say that song blew me away. Best wishes from Australia, you are brilliant

Dictionary meaning of Heyday is The period of greatest popularity, success, or power; prime This was certainly Mics time. Down through all of eternity the crying of humanity, tis' then when the hurdy gurdy man comes singing songs of love. Donovan

Summer 2000 he was doing motor bike courier service and a car cut him off. He was laid up for months, neck brace and all -- and wrote this song. In November 2001 he had the fall in Holland from which he never recovered. I think two head injuries was just too much for his body to take. It's possible that he might have survived the Holland fall had he not already had a head injury the prior year.

Mic was in a serious accident,I think about a year before. I've heard that it him a new perspective on life, which I feel may have been much of the impetus behind this song. Given that your instincts are not far off. (or odd)
