That has nothing to do with why they are struggling. Slater on IR, Corey in and out due to injuries, and Feiler drop in level of productive play has been killer. Thats not including a rookie in Zion and having an extreme liability at RT. Thats the whole line not playing to the their level compared to last year. Lose the trenches, you won’t be able to run anywhere. If you can’t run anywhere, the opposing D won’t respect any play action in general and load the box on obvious passing downs.

They found Feiler’s replacement in Jamaree Salyer, but they need to fill out that RT spot and probably draft a successor to Corey. Players will never complain about it. Phil never complained about having a terrible oline for 10 years. Guess what? He had a terrible oline and couldnt throw in a pocket bigger than a phone booth and the RBs at the time were getting hit two yards behind the line. Plus Joshua Kelley is a fine backup so there is no need to find a bigger back. Secondly, based on your second statement means you don’t know anything about Brandon’s defensive philosophy. The guy has and will continue to rush 4 with an extra nickel in coverage. Historically, Staley has done that. The point of getting a bookend like Mack was to create a great amount of pressure with just 4 rushers. Which is why they got 5 sacks wk 1 against the same team. Problem is, Staley won’t sacrifice scheme to rush no more than 4 because when the D rushes 5, its at a loss of someone in coverage. So, getting 0 sacks against the same team comes down to combination of Staley’s scheme and not changing it, Bosa’s absence, and the Raiders making adjustments for game 2. It isn’t that complicated.
