Mic Distance From Bass Cab Test

Premise:
You smash that microphone right up to the grill and go... sure, but let's listen to what happens when you move it back. A quick test to see what you gain, lose, or other... when it comes to mic placement on a bass cabinet. (Or any cabinet really.). Bonus: A great reminder of what mixing a DI in with a mic'd amp gives you.

your stuff is awesome. intersting tonal changes and suprized how the distance seems to get phasey a tad yet the lower frequencies increase (i think??) which in theory doesnt make sense / paradox!

I have come to the conclusion that phase will melt your brain, because right when I think I have a clue, a surprise or unexpected result... So Im not worrying about it, the real lesson is just to CHECK IT. Either one setting will sound better to you , or it won't, and proceed from there. LOL

@@SHUTUPANDRECORD total. i think its tricky feelings because the difference is so subtle at least sometimes, and its not a clear bad/good, just different. so yes brain melting and mushing

@@chinmeysway THat's what's so fun to me about making these videos... I realize there are SOOOOOOOOO many ways to make stuff sound different... and each sound could be perfect in some situation. So there's no "bad" piece of gear, only the wrong one for the job at hand. !!
