I don’t hate officers, I would just rather have LEGO put them in $30 sets so we can collect enough of them to command our ships, but not so many that 1/4 of our armies are officers. They are necessary minifigures but I personally don’t like it when I have too many of them but not enough clones/stormtroopers

Let me just say that the Bounty Hunter Battlepack, while not a great battlepack, is an amazing purchase for people who don't have all the Bounty Hunters. Which is the only reason I bought it in the first place.

I have 2, the first was useful for Canon characters, the second, well, I made a custom minifi, just a random bounty hunter using pieces of Dengar and a custom droid. The only point of getting multiple of the set is to get Trandoshans

Sometimes, you don't need an army, sometimes you just want a cool build to put on your desk because the build looks nice which explains why so many people wanted the Galactic Empire Battle Pack in S tier.

Most battle pack builds are pretty lackluster in my opinion but if someone likes a battle pack for the build, I'm not gonna hate on them for it! I buy battle packs to grow my army and the build is secondary. That's just me though

This was kind annoying when you were constantly wondering "Why does Lego keep putting in stud shooters?" It's because these are mostly directed at kids and they are trying to include play features to make it more fun. I understand it's annoying for adults and collectors/army builders but they are targeted at kids.

I can see what you mean with the playablility aspect, but I loved the molded blasters as a kid. Although I can't speak for kids (because I'm not a kid anymore) I can't see me from 10 years ago enjoying stud shooters. Some kids may enjoy them, but LEGO must have seen a significant drop in sales in order to remove stud shooters from battle packs. I don't know if kids or adults control the market but whoever it was, they didn't like stud shooters.

I definitely disagree with this guy on the Jawa battle pack, wether your building an army or not, but let’s me be honest, there would be no point in putting the the giant arm on the Jawa vehicle if it didn’t have something to hold, it also makes more sense to have a droid.

That's a fair point Toast! I still don't like it when LEGO includes minifigures that I only would want one of in a battle pack. If they would have had a different build, maybe a tusken hut and replaced the astromic droid with a tusken, do you think it would make a good battle pack?

I agree with this list besides the OG Imperial Battle Pack which I would put in S tier. Especially on the part with the 2017 Bounty Hunter Battle Pack since it's not a bad set with 4 out of 6 bounty hunters from ESB in fact it's great in my opinion but it is objectively a bad battle Pack for army building. Edit: I liked the editing too 👍

I like the Jawa/Tusken raider battle pack. It is a great addition to the Jawa Sandcrawler that came out around the same time because with a slight modification to the Sandcrawler you can load up that speeder. Also the astromech is a nice addition to the droids with the sandcrawler. Also the Bounty hunter battle pack is a great set because if you got the 40th Anniversary Slave 1 as well then you got all 6 of the ESB bounty hunters. RESULT!!!!!!. I am surprised you didn't include the 2 new minifig accessory packs in this review. I think the Rebel Hoth defence one is S/A level. You get 3 rebel troopers who have different heads, legs and torsos, plus the goggles so you can mix and match them making a great deal of variety for a rebel army as it should be. Also they come with these amazing tripod mounted heavy blasters which have blasters for legs. So all those other battle packs you bought with annoying stud shooters can now be replaced with blaster rifles RESULT!!!!!!!. The Clone command one is a B though. The inclusion of the Clone Commander is the problem. A jet pack trooper or maybe an NCO trooper would have been better. However the command module has some nice console pieces for a MOC and the blaster rifle rack gives you some more guns to replace stud shooters.

That's a fair reason to like the Tatooine Battle Pack! I wish I would have picked up one more before it retired! I was basing this tier list off of Brickset's list of Battle Packs but if I do this again, I might want to include the accessory packs! They are both better army builders than many of the Battle Packs I rated in this video!

The Imperial Scout Patrol battle pack speeder is a canon vehicle from Solo too. It's not often you get canon vehicles in Battle Packs. I wish I had bought another 1 or 2 of those because the officer and security trooper are actually good figures and pretty rare.

It is actually confirmed by Lego themselves that it is commander neo. They just didn’t put it on the box at the time because not a lot of people would know who commander neo is.

You're right, the first sets can be a bit skewed as the teir list progresses. On the stream that I clipped this video from, I spent probably 10 minutes asking chat if there was anything they wanted to move around. They gave a few suggestions but we only moved one set. I can't remember what it was (maybe Assassins Droid battle pack) but I moved it at the end of this video.

I get that this is your opinion but I think sets being docked for not being good for army building or not being cannon is kind of harsh. I buy battle packs because of cool figs, if I were to build an army maybe I only buy it once, but damaged storm troopers have great applications in diorama settings. Me personally I don’t care if it’s cannon as long as it’s cool looking but I get if you are trying to stick with an authentic army.

16:53 how to make it almost perfect: take out the Jedi and add 2 more clones, take out the stud shooters and replace them with normal blasters, take the build and change it so it doesn't have any stud shooters and also make it so it can transport the clones (aka make it actually like a mini gunship for people that cant afford a normal sized one or just don't have like 50 big plates / bases that are all connected), and change the name.

I'm basing the rating scale off LEGO's original intention behind battle packs even though it has changed. OG Clone Trooper Battlepack should be A tier imo because it's still weird for army building, the builds were solid but who in the world needs damn Shocktroopers and the yellow one? Give me 4 normal clones :( Especially back then, when our moms bought us our Lego, you could only get one or two because parents are dumb. Buying 5 of these just to get 10 clones and 5 very specific ones is not cool for army building, that always annoyed me compared to the droid BP since SBDs and normal droids are very common The old Rebel BP was amazing too, 4 of the same rebel soldiers in one set holy shitteru I cream my panties

I got those first two waves of battle packs as a kid and they were honestly amazing. For a low income family, being able to have a reasonably priced set with such great playability was a HUGE deal for my brothers and me. It makes me really sad to see Lego prioritising over-detailed figures to raise price points than giving simple, and fun sets. I don't feel it would be too much of an exaggeration that some Lego sets are becoming collectables over toys.

the jawa battle pack was released about the same time as the sandcrawler so it was kinda a combo cuz that sandcrawler came with like no minifigs

That's a good point! The timing was definitely great! If it came with a tusken or another Jawa instead of an astromech droid, I would have bought multiple!

You know how there has to be like one or two builds but what if there was no build and just minifigs replacing the build and with 5 pcs per clone your getting a lot of clones for 20 bucks
