Safety Third is like a choose your own adventure book. There are some parts of the episode where everyone hears the same conversation, but sometimes there are multiple conversations and you have to choose which one you listen to, so it's a unique experience for the viewer even if you end up in the same place. Also sometimes you listen to the wrong conversation and die.

At 10 minutes it was a chat with William and Kevin about a CO detector and how one model had problems in the same room as the 3D printer for Kevin (probably needs an open window when he's printing 💀) while Micha and Allen were talking about getting older, something about Adam Savage, and something that Allen was regretting putting off til he now that he's 34/5, as the reality of age is setting in, which made Micha have a slight existential crisis. At least that's what I caught in one listen 😂
@TheTubePoweredOne8 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure the bit about Adam Savage was about how Adam Savage was 35 when he started in Mythbusters and how Allen would use that as a sort of barometer for success to compare himself to and be motivated by. Once he hit 34 and realized he was now only a year off from Adam's age when Mythbusters was made he was suddenly hit with the existential weight of the fact that the arbitrary deadline for success was now frightfully close and how he'll have nothing (either to show for it, or to use moving forward in place of Adam Savage to compare himself to in terms of age & success-couldn't make it out well enough to figure out which). This was how he answered Michael when being asked how it feels to have just turned 34. When Michael told him he was only 26 after Allen said the Adam Savage bit you could actually briefly see that same existential dread flash across his face for a split second, lol.

@46:30 sounds like you aren't getting an LS signal out of your valve when you select swing right. But I can't find a hydraulic schematic for your machine online (for free) so I can't be sure. That's why you have to bottom the bucket cyl out. That sends a LS signal to the pump to stroke and your swing right takes advantage of it. May be as simple as a line that broke and was capped or something more involved but without seeing a schematic it's hard to diagnose or suggest more.

Somebody tell William that excavators unscrew. If he only goes left, he will literally fall off of the base of his excavator.
@memejeff7 ай бұрын
If Will reads this. If you are too lazy to fix the lead acid problem you could just buy a contactor from a surplus store. Wire it between one terminal and wire the contactor coil to the the battery itself thru a switch. The switch could be on a long wire pair into the vehicle and you could tape the battery engage button on the dash.

I didn't have a carbon monoxide alarm to warm me when I sealed every draft in the basement and caused the furnace to not have enough combustion and mixing air so it just started expelling exhaust out the mixer inlet (I know this to be true with a later smoke test). I'm not even sure if the detector I bought later would have done anything, they have time thresholds for levels. It may take 15 minutes to 4 Hours to alarm. It only took a few minutes till i was hit. I had a splitting headache then started to get confused, then I couldn't real stand or keep balance. I crawled out with not much time left, escape is not enough because CO preferentially binds with hemoglobin over O2 and levels don't drop but gradually, like half an hour.

Motorcyclist here, those mopeds are actually more dangerous than the average motorcycle: it's because of the illusion of safety. Falling at 30kmh (which in america units is like 19mph) is enough to screw up any of your bones, fatally so. If you're without helmet it's RIP, if you're without back protector you have great chances of becoming a vegetable, your wrists and ankles are all at risk, etc. I bought a motorcycle because I don't feel social pressure into wearing full gear. People who ride scooters die from extremely stupid slow speed crashes all the time just because they think that dinky jet helmet is going to save their life - it's not. So yeah all this to say: building a moped capable of hitting 50mph requires full gear, but just like the other moped, the difference is how fast you get into troubles without you actively trying to do so.

One time I missed out on a mass spectrometer at one of those auctions. My high bid was $600 because that was literally all I had. The next highest bidder won it for $610. I forgot the specific model, but it's original retail was something like $90k-$100k and it's 2nd hand value was about $40k. The only thing that I saw was wrong with it was a broken plastic connector where the vacuum pump connected to the machine......probably a $3 fix........
