I saw Michael Bolton in the 80's when he first hit the big time. It was in a small venue. He came out in the crowd and was singing directly to different women. They were melting. A great show. I'm an older guy. I saw tons of absolutely great live performances. No autotune. No tricks just great talent

Michael Bolton is another one of those Vocalists that even when they are trying to sing softly, there is so much power in their voice that is just goes through you and hits you with such a force you feel all the emotion behind it. Oh, and Lizzie, you are right, during the 80's (and part of the late 70's, early 90's too) the instrumental was just as important and presented as such, as the vocals. Every decade has examples of this, but it just seems during the 80's there was more of an emphasis placed on the instrumental part of the song. Good Ear, Darlin'!

Before he became the king og ballads, he was a pretty good rock singer. Fools game, Everybodys Crazy (was in the movie Big). But his best song, as a true Bolton fan, is from the self title album Michael Bolton, and is the power balad "I allmost belived you". I remember byuing that album as a kid and allmost started crying in the back seat of the car. He allso has a crazy range vocaly.

Howar Jones is both s great artist and a very nice guy. Phil Collins plays drums and sings background vocals on No One is to Blame. I worked for the opening act on the North American leg of Howard's One to One tour in 87. All it took was the first 5 notes of No One is to Blame and the crowd sounded like a jet was landing overhead. He and his band and entire crew treated us all really well - quite a rarity in those days.
