Jesus, lot of people saying "he's a "spinto", "he's a low tenor" "he's a baritone-tenor". Michael himself is saying that he trained his voice with Luciano Pavarotti and as a consequence he found out he is a TENOR. There a videos where Luciano is clearly saying that Michael is a TENOR. Singing is way to deep compare to those KZbin tutorials you guys watch to find your vocal register...

How is it possible that micheal bolton is a tenor? His voice is as low as jeremy irons. This guy really found a glitch in the matrix

he's a low tenor for sure and then he's also older...as you age your voice darkens...if you treat your voice right you can hang on to your high notes up until usually about your 60s and then get lower and lower. a little tenor will never darken to be a bass or even a true baritone most likely...but it's very possible that a low tenor like bolton could sing light baritone or even baritone as an older man. some tenors also do have a lower vocal range...tenor mostly referes to where your passagios are (where your voice starts to transition) if you try to keep the same volume and sing higher and higher untill your voice cracks that's where your first passagio is. that's where you have to either add volume and go into your belt or call register, flip into a falsetto, or try to blend the two in a "mixed" voice.

​@@qlimax95 sure that wouldn't be a bad classification. it's a half step up from a "spito" or low tenor but the same thing still applies. he's probably a lower or dramatic tenor with a lot of lower resonance who is also older. even that steve perry dude or whatever that sings journey who was a super light tenor darkened into a lower tenor for his later stuff.

@@imbi9580 spint just means low. he's likely sing from a bflat2 to a bflat 4 on the stage. he's a low tenor...this and light baritone are probably the most common voice types.

@@Hhjhfu247 disagree. spinto is bflat2-bflat4 and dramatic is b2-b4. they are probably more accessible ranges than normal tenor c2-c5. i'd say they're more common than the c2-c5 tenor. light baritones (a2-a4) and low (spinto) tenors are the most common voice types. lt's possible that we have different definition of what makes someone a spinto "low" tenor or a dramatic tenor though. maybe you think of those voice types as i would think of a baritenor. such as Freddie mercury, Paul McCartney, brendon urie etc. where they can all sing down to like the e2 with some semblance of vocal fold adduction, but for all intents and purposes have the range of a tenor. is that what you mean by spinto and dramtic tenor? or do you just mean the range on bflat2-4 and b2-4 respectively? because simply being able to sing the part of a spinto tenor is actually suuuper common. it would be the most common tessitura for a man.
