I hope what I wrote made sense. Michael will work like crazy if he sees just one person not having a good or great time but, when faced with an entire audience looking pretty unresponsive, he ( and his band feels it, too) will go to any means to make that audience feel at the least " something" positive. Both the performer and an audience feed off each other's energy. That's why Michael will go to outrageous lengths to entertain any audience. He sincerely wants them all to have a great time. Sue

He's acting like that cause he's #1 a balla, #2 they are German and probably many of them can't understand english so he's making it fun for himself. #3 Because he makes millions entertaining so LOVE IT BABY

Michael is not trying to be anyone but, himself. I love when he improvises like this. He adores this genre of music and has loved jazz since he was five years old! He wants to keep this genre of music alive but, gives his own twist to it to keep it fresh and modern. We improvise like crazy when we both have the time( which is very rare ).His band is top notch and they can follow MB when he does this and they know how much he loves to just cut loose and do his own version of a song. I hope this

By the time MB put his own "spin " on this song, all of us were trying not to fall down laughing, let alone play music! When the show was over, we all fell down laughing ( this happened backstage) all the musicians kept chanting to MB, me so ..... Me so ..... and we all piled on top of MB and he couldn't stop laughing! We're like one big insane family! Sue Ellen

I've been to a Bublé show twice last year, and he knows how to make it one hell of a party! He's marvelous! One show in Belgium nd one in Germany, and all I'm saying is that there is a big difference...

I adore this song! I'm genuinely surprised that it's so difficult to find any versions of it here on KZbin, except that silly-assed version (performed much too quickly) from the film "Singing in the Rain." Buble nails it here with casual elegance.

I just have to add something that's important for you to know concerning Michael's performance. We were all suffering from horrendous jet lag and after crossing many time zones and eating some horrible food not fit for human consumption; all of us and especially Michael wanted to give a great show but, we were struggling to stay awake and we all were punch drunk so the performance everyone of us gave was not exactly our best and were had been laughing in hysterics before we even got onstage. Michael doesn't perform drunk and loves to have fun with a song whether he's in Germany( and he was very aware that this audience was tough) or any country. "It's gonna be a good night" was an homage to the Black Eyed Peas. He loves to improvise when he's onstage and his band expects it, too. MB loves to mix things up during any performance. Sue Ellen

@CJCINFERNITY ha, a crowd is someone who sits and listens to the great music and dances in their seats, not screaming and yelling, crying and rushing the front of the stage and being annoying. This is a Buble crowd, not a fucking Beiber crowd.

i concur. Even though his voice sounds to me a little bit more like Sinatra's, his stance on stage and playful mood seem a lot more like D. Martin, but not quite the same

I know when Michael is performing in front of a tough audience he'll throw some " wild phrases" into a song to catch the audience's attention and to check if they are really listening to him. Not only was the homage about, it's gonna be a good night, but it also was another attempt to get "some" type of positive response from such a difficult crowd. The entire " it's gonna be a good night" was also a tongue in cheek reference to the bland audience he faced in front of him. I hope this makes sen

EXCELLENT RENDITION of this standard old song . The band and the singer are top musos . Lot of comments are probably from deaf sorts and I wonder why the camera looks for the guitar at 2: 25 and the barytone sax at 2:29 ....Perhaps for "aryan " profiles ! ....There is an indelible stain with German people .....

After reading some of your comments;(like the brain-trust who thought one of the Marx brothers sang this song better than MB-and I can't print what Michael's response was to "the person I call the brain-trust" and it was very funny, too...) I'm convinced many of you know absolutely NOTHING about what actual knowledge and the intricacies of music you need to appreciate why MB sings the way he does so beautifully. Sue Ellen

Why bash the crowd? Maybe some people don't cheer through the introduction, rush the stage to kiss the singer, or sing along and attempt to make themselves part of the performance. The German audience is respectful--a quality lost on most Americans. And I'm American, so you can turn off those little wheels turning and straining for a good comeback. Maybe it's Mr. Buble who "doesn't get it" (this crowd), making a cute reference to an unfamiliar American pop-song in the middle of a standard.

I was at this gig. He was genuinely shit, as if he was pissed. The crowd gave him a great welcome but he was bad. You should all know what it's like IF you've actually been to gigs (rather than only watching performances on KZbin). If the act/band is good, the audience responds. If they are bad the audience doesn't respond. Only dumb teenagers scream regardless. I was there, he was rubbish. John Mayer in Cardiff last year was also rubbish. KZbin it to see comments.

He looks like he's trying to be a cross between Bobby Darin and Elvis... doing little expressions with his face and lips. Not a great arrangement for this song. It all is a bit low key. He seems out of his element. Like him, like the song but not this. But a good capture of a moment in his career.

Buble’s got a great voice, but for styling just can’t steal torch from the cheeky chauvinism of Dean Martin’s boozy delivery, which keeps you guessing if the words even sincere or just lyrical roofies.
