The problem was the writers tried hard to be unpredictable and failed. Look at Breaking Bad's ending, it was great and very satisfactory, yet it was a tad forseeable. There wasn't any major surprises, but just done so well..

I agree... but I feel that some of the writing/acting was completely rushed in the last few minutes. For example, Hannah getting the news and being upset for a second then taking Harrison for ice cream. Also, I understand that Dexter has crazy strong survival instincts and had a life raft, but his boat was torn to shreds in the hurricane so there is 0 chance he should have survived. Also, lumberjack?

Beau Romero he always had an escape plan and they showed that in season 7 I believe with the bag and the money and fake passport.. the lumberjack is just a different way of escaping his old life and it shouldn’t be looked in to very heavily

I think it's difficult to make a happy ending for a serial killes. You know in cant ben like: He moved to Argentinia and lived a happy life.

He is a public figure (part of the job), I find it weird, there's nothing to be ashamed of it, its just NEVER mentioned. I think it more relevant for fans- and less private- then sex orientation. It's the never even mentioned part that bothers me ("a " = 1).

the lumberjack end would have been justifiable, if there was good reason leading up to it in the entirety of season 8. there was no real character development and I was not rooting for anyone by the end of it, then you have the disjointed finale. fuck that.

I actually disliked the ending but grew to love it & do think it was symbolized as the worst punishment Dexter could endure. Of corse I'd love it if Dex realized his strength was all from his 'connection' with Deb. He kills Hanna & the end is show as Dexter & Deb so many years later, elsewhere , teaching Harrison 'The Code'. Not signifying a spin-off at all, but a bond that either Harrison accepts or rebels, we just don't know & it closes leaving viewers wondering. Otherwise, Sun. Nite sux now!
