I'm about 75% sure that I played World of Warcraft with him circa 2008/10. We never exchanged real names, but the guy had the same voice, but a different cadence. He didn't get mad about a whole lot and would deflect with some funny one-liners, but didn't come off as someone who was any more/less nerdy than the rest of us. The guy I remember was never offensive/edgy, Also, if it really was him, he never admitted it directly and would go out of his way to ignore anyone who tried to find out if he was or not. The way he would just switch directions if Superbad to avoid it, rather than just shoot it down/confirm it and move on almost makes it more believable to me. It's difficult to hide your speaking voice, when it is unique/iconic at the time. He showed up every week in the PvP group I was part of. I'd love to find out now, 16 years later, if that was actually him.
