It's that the film is all one side, unlike the 2-sided DVD that i had, and I'm sure many others also had it.

The Irish in Ireland vs. the British and vs. Nativists in America, didn't deal with oppresion and subjugation with non-violence. The Irish didn't walk around with Irish Lives Matter signs. They opposed violence with violence. As Malcolm X said, "Violence in self defense is intelligence.".

A movie that depicts a somewhat romanticised view of Collins. As one critic put it, "As you come out of the Theatre listen carefully and you might just hear the real Michael Collins laughing cynically in the shadows."

It's a piece of IRA propaganda, made when the IRA campaign was still going on. It presents partition as a bad thing without even mentioning unionists let alone explaining why Ireland was partitioned. It probably led to more money going to the IRA, given by people who don't know there are any unionists in Ireland.

@Shane Gallagher The film makers didn't know there was going to be a second ceasefire. Yes you could say it was free state propaganda but also pro-IRA and anti-British.

@Shane Gallagher The film maker demonises the British in the film, He gets actors who play bad guys to play the British etc. He presents them as evil and cowardly people with an evil and cowardly nature, stemming form their national characteristics.

@Shane Gallagher You could show likeable British characters as I'm sure there were many on the British side. You could also show the IRA in a worts and all manner rather than the sanitised, viewer-friendly way they are shown in the film,

@Shane Gallagher As I've already said there are always likeable characters on both sides in war. Lot s of the black and tans would have been likeable characters and the auxillaries. Likable people fight on the wrong side in war and do bad things in war. You must see that the film maker is deliberately demonising the British in this film as he is also demonising de valera.

We’ll never know what sort of politician Collins would have turned out to be. He might have disappointed everyone and gone power mad, like Tony Blair or Idi Amin.

Michael Collins was kind of like the Irish Hitler. Not in ideology but in the ability to captivate people to his advantage.

No comparison between a psychopath like Hitler and an Irish patriot like Michael Collins.
