Well Golota was finished by both of them. What's your point? So the talented Golota was waxed by green Grant? Doesn't sound good for Golota to lose that fight then. Golota had success against one great and that was riddick bowe. And that's because styles make fights and Bowe was past his prime, and Golota threw dozens of low blows. It was so bad at one point that he flat out threw a 4 punch combo to riddick bowes balls
@Pulsonar4 жыл бұрын
Not sure many believed Grant would beat Lewis just because he is big and outmuscles Lewis. I think most boxing fans would have expected Grant to last longer against Lewis because he is a decent boxer thats all. Grant did well here to weather Golotas initial storm in this title eliminator and pull out a victory with good boxing form, determination and resolve. Golota always seems to lose it when his best work doesn’t reward him as expected. Grant knew enough to persist and frustrate him with his awkwardness and disturb Golotas mental weakness (especially after getting up easily after each knock down). He mixed this with nice inside combos and even picked him off with good long range shots. However, he needed more than this against Lewis. For a start Grant was easy to hit, had poor head movement, loses composure easily when hit to make that gangly awkwardness work against him more than it did for him, and his footwork was nothing special. Lewis had far superior footwork than both these guys and excellent defensive skills. Also If Lewis had anyone shaken with shots from all angles it was usually curtains! Grant and his coach simply underestimated Lewis’s superior ring craft, tact, KO power and killer instinct that works in all conditions.

Very true! Actually even in this fight he was doing very and he was missing a lot of the vicious punches. Had he gone on he probably would have won coz although he was down he still looked strong to go on, and he did not have to worry coz he had already scored 2 k.downs earlier in the fight. Also Grant had used up his reserve at this point and with most of his shots not hitting target it was causing mental wear. Grant fun and pretty damn tough. He’d have wiped the canvas with Wilder.

Don't be ridiculous. Wilder would have killed Grant
@jeffreyfreeman48434 жыл бұрын
Grant was knocked down “easily” but almost always got up unhurt. He could take it and he fought a give and take style. Wilder lacks punch resistance and seeks to evade and snipe. Grant would take his best and come back to impose to his will on Deontay like FURY did, by being a wall of man Wilder couldn’t deal with.
@ReservoirPunk4 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreyfreeman4843 Lmao. You're completely delusional. Since when did Wilder "lack punch resistance"? He was stopped on his feet by one of the best heavyweights of the last 10 years. Compared to Grant, Wilder has an iron chin. He's only been on the floor twice in his career, both in the same bout. Grant was knocked down almost every time he fought someone with a pulse. Grant got demolished by journeymen level fighters like Dominic Quinn and Jameel McCline. Obviously you weren't around during the 90s or you'd never come out with such a dumb and uneducated statement. Wilder would KO Grant in 2/3 rounds. If you believe otherwise then you're clueless on boxing or your hate for Wilder is clouding your judgement.

Golota. His failings had been exposed v Bowe (x2) - self destruction? and then brutally by Lennox Lewis - remember some made Golota favorite in that bout! - just a couple of years earlier. Grant fought Lewis in his next fight (21 years ago) He was well conditioned - having to keep getting up from being knocked down showed that😅 - unfortunately against someone of Lewis's class Grant was terribly exposed as a 1 dimensional slugger.

You're smoking crack. Grant had a chin made out of the finest china. He might beat Wilder due to Wilder being the champion with the least amount of boxing skills in history, but Fury would give him a boxing lesson.

@@saypayme Ray Mercer was an Olympic Gold Medalist and Tommy Morrison possessed one of the greatest left hooks in heavyweight history. Both are in the top 50 heavyweights in history as ranked by Ring Magazine. Tyson Fury is the only top Heavyweight aside from Usyk fighting today with REAL boxing skills. Oleksandr, I might add, is probably the greatest Cruiserweight of all time, with only Evander Holyfield being able to argue. Really man, I know the fight game.
