@reneirob There was never a time when I looked at Mike and been like "damn he really looks fucked up" My vision isnt distorted either. Somehow through his changes I could still see a beautiful man. I believe part of it was his inner beauty as you mentioned. Overall I think he was truly favored and blessed with a little more then the rest of us. Despite how the world viewed him, someone of a higher power created him and there was nothing man could do to destroy it. Not even Michael himself!

@Keezie27 It is very difficult to judge jermaine's performance against MJ's when Jermaine had a bass guitar in his hand and having to keep the beat of the music and keep the dancing going at the same time.That is incredible skill. He was only a small boy too. how many 9 year old boy can do that? Also jermaine was not a dancer. Maybe Mj took up dancing because he couldn't play an instrument. I would have loved to see MJ play a guitar or a keyboard on one of his shows. dancing is the easier part.

@Keezie27 If you listen to Jermaines voice before puberty it is almost indistinguishable from MJ's voice. Many people hear Jermaine singing, mistake him for MJ. MJ admitted in his book that he copied Jermaine's style of singing. There is nothing wrong with that. I believe MJ replaced Jermaine because at age 14 Jermaine's voice had started to break and was croggy and hoarse where as MJ was still prepubiscent and clear. Also the fact that he was so young made him even more attractive.

@Keezie27 Here where I live in Britain, they did an article on kids called Jermaine and it was revealed that those kids were born during J5 years. Their parents were Jermaine fans. Jermaine was the only Jackson that was voted teenage idol. I do not need to downplay MJ. I am a fan of the Jacksons but I am secure enough to give Jermaine his props. He did great. If his last name was not Jackson nobody would be compariing him. Fact is he played a mean bass at a tender age and he sings like an angel

How many of them played to massive audiences all over the world, name one. I have heard many great players say Jermaine inspired them. Problem is that all of this gets drowned out because of the media and fan obsession with MJ. Well. I prefer the talents and skills of Jermaine Jackson, I can dance, but I cannot play a guitar.

However, as I said there is a reason why a young MJ REPLACED Jermaine as a lead singer. MJ is the most charismatic and best performer of the family. A natural born performer. Jermaine may have gotten many scream from fans due to his good loosk back then, but not because he was a better performer. Michael is clearly stronger in that area. Always has been. Fact.

@Nickleby2 I've NEVER mistaken MJ's vocie for Jermaine. NOT EVER. No Jackson fan would. The fact of the matter is that there are many good bass players. Jermaine was good, but not the greatest ever. MJ was exceptional as a vocalist, dancer,songwriter,performer and personality. There werre lots of people back then who could do what Jermaine did but there was and is only one Michael Jackson. They both went solo and MJ became the biggest solo artist ever possibly while Jermaine is remembered

@Nickleby2 Jermaine was the heartthrob of the group you mean, not the star. Clearly, that was Michael which is why a young MJ replaced Jermaine as the lead singer. Yes, Jermaine was originally the lead but MJ replaced him after Joe realized how talented and charismatic he was on stage. Either way, Jermaine was very handsome as a teen and young man. He certainly was the most popular with the girls and I can see why. Very talented too. So is MJ of course. I love the J5.

@Keezie27 Actually, jermaine used to upstage Mj on every occasion. yes, MJ was the lead singer, that was because Jemaines voice was changing as he entered his teens and Mj's was still pure and preteens. Jermaine did share lead with Mj, but teenagers did not care that Mj sang most of the songs. they went wild when Jermaine sang one line. MJ grew into a very awkward teenager and very girly, that was when they started talking about him being gay. he certainly was no teenage heartthrob.

Berry Gordy wrote the songs for them, he was a genius, he would have written the right songs for the group.
