Michael's look is largely due to plastic surgery anyway & I believe he wore wigs because most of his hair had burned off. So it was largely a fake look, sad to say. Also, MJ bought the Edward scissorhands pair of scissors which were displayed up and center in Neverland. Plus he was involved in Charlie and the chocolate factory long before Depp/ Burton got attached to the project. All I know is that Edward Scissorhands (1990) was inspired by Michael Jacksons's 1987 'Bad' look. I think any other similarities later on are purely coincidental. JD was once asked if he modelled his 'Willy Wonka' look on MJ (who had a similar style way before JD's Willy Wonka) and he said no.
