@@periwinklesdust not in the UK. 'Asian' is Indian and Pakistani here. We refer to people, food, restaurants as Oriental or Asian respectively. I did ask a Chinese man about which was appropriate when online some time ago, and he said he was more familiar with Asian but not offended by being called Oriental. I like the distinction because that is what it is, a clear distinction -however, I did look the term up and I am less comfortable with using 'Oriental' than I was when I wrote this 6 years ago. I know this because, except for this comment, I don't know when I last used it. I'll look into this again and see where things stand with this term now. I certainly meant no offence.
