He is Greg Phillinganes one of the all time masters of the recording studio used as a session musician that is heard in some of the most iconic recordings ever of different artists. Michael did two concerts that year in 2001 on September 7 and 10 in New York City (in Madison Square Garden). Was this footage from September 10th because that means this concert was just hours before the 9/11 tragedies just a few minutes away from this venue that would have happened the following morning at 8:30 am about 12 hours after this concert. How creepy is that !!
