Pheew this man got me sweating over here lol 🤤🔥 But what’s most important is he was woke af and he never shied away to uplift ppl and raise awareness on real life problems in his music! This was a homage to the black panther party like Shavonn realized correctly! Crazy thing is that the whole black or white short film got hella criticized and almost got banned cuz of this particular ending part with the panther dance. Ppl said it was too violent and sexual but what they didn’t get was that Mike was trying to uplift and support his black community with that video. He was smashing signs like the one from KKK and on one of the car windows there were Nazi signs and so on. In the end they just banned the panther dance..smh. Mike was too woke and ahead of his time for Hollywood and this world period! ✊🏽❤️👑

Kind of late to comment, but originally there were no writings on the glasses and windows, they were digitally added after the critics complained it was too violent. Some parts of the Black Panther Dance were also removed after parents also complained it was too sexual (keep in mind the man was already in his thirties, and "sexual" was nothing new to the world). These edits were after the video was first released and played at the same time in tens of countries and made the record of holding 500 million views, which still stands today. He smashed the bottles, windows, and glasses as a way to release some of the anger he held within him for his race and the injustice they went and still go through. Also, the tap dance part was a jab to "Dancing under the rain" after they stole the dance moves from black street dancers, as I've read. Personally, I believe they were just making excuses to shut the song/short film down because although the song's message is that race doesn't matter, the short film still showed that all the injustice would not be forgotten. It could even include the part when there were two babies sitting on the earth with a snow globe of the earth in front of them, one black and one white, and the white baby grabs the globe and holds it. There's no confirmation, but it could easily mean that the "whites" are the ones controlling the world. That's also when they really started trying to take him down and make thousands of rumors about him.

i saw it the night it originally aired and the slurs were there ...if you think about the video...he sings black or white (a song about equality) continues as a black panther( 60s black anti establishment political party hated by the government for their attempts to unify and educate black people of their rights ) and then smashes windows containing racial slurs. he then turns back into a panther asserting his blackness. supposedly parents were upset about the violence and paid little attention to the message. so first the slurs were digitally removed and then the scene was completely removed.black or white and they dont really care about us are michael jacksons most overtly political songs.if you take the last section out of Black or White it is a song about unity.you leave it in it becomes a powerful political and emphatic statement about his hatred of the groups that try to divide us.

So did I and no, they weren't. They were added since some (mainly white USA with no understanding of race tensions and class struggles nor their build-up to riots) didn't get why MJ was smashing stuff and tried to make it into random acts of sexualized violence. So MJ tried to be more explicit for the slow ones basically ergo conservatives in power. This part of the film still got banned though and still took a huge part in sparking the cultural war of the 90s in the US. It's funny how this had been turned around since, when it's obvious from all the taped VHS's, from back in the day.

The version were the kkk symbols and racist words in th windows is very hard to find . it offended people so much they had to re-release a version withought the symbols. The studio digitally removed them. The black panther in the vid is a representation of the black panther party back then too.
