I'm confused at 4:19 Did the band mess up? I always thought MJ wasn't ready for the dance part, but from this angle it's seems like the whole crew, including MJ are about to start the choreography, however the band keeps playing the refrain.

MJ was too early with the dance breakdown but the band could have caught that, were it not for the terrible stage design where only the musical directors had a clear view of MJ. So in the end both MJ and the band messed up

@LoïsClaude he usually did that when he wasn´t sure when to come in during a song or when he forgot the lyrics to it, so indeed he was covering his lips so people wouldn´t notice. Also, when his mic was open he would be constantly moving it in order to adjust it to his face and sound and everything.

In the TV version, for unknow reasons, they put a precorded intro from grammy awards 88. And they have cut a lot of the dancing part at the end too... If you watch this amateur version, you'll see that he sang the intro trully live and he sang LIVE a few lines in 1st verse (over the playback). So, the tv version (and the 10th september version too) is scandalous. Because he did playback enough in those years, and if when he sung trully live they replace it by a playback version...

What do you call "first part" ? For me, only the intro and first few lines are live and the rest is lip synched (but his mic was still open and he sang during the bridges)

The intro was live, yeah the micro was open and the playback was curt in the ending, if you see this performances was make a bad tour style, when the girl appears Michael did ad-libs "Go girl jeje"

@@Kssops Yes, maybe it's MJ himself that decided it, but it sill scandalous for the fans :) For the Jackson 5 part I don't think the vocals are re recorded : it's the same voices we listen in the amateur version of 2nd night. Maybe it's just the mix which is different on the tv version?

Also notice that there is like a minute missing from the televised show.

That's what David Gest said. He came in late for the first concert. He also seems disoriented during that concert. Second concert he was more concentrated but each concert has their highs and lows.

mj took demorol to this concert! becouse, he didnt wanted to do the concert, så he try to sleep over it!... but a freind woke him up! about 30 min before the concert and then he needed to go! or something like that!! se the movie life of an icon! :)

@DiegoMaister1010 That's all complete bullshit. For one thing, demerol is a painkiller. It doesn't make you sleep. He may have taken demerol but the crap about him not wanting to do the show and trying to sleep through it is bullshit and disgraceful.

It is not bullshit. MJ used this tactic more than once to evade a work committment he didn’t want to do. You know the man was so nice and not confrontational so he would find other ways to escape. He received Propofol the night before the first show. Dr. Ratner left MJ - awake but still slightly drowsy. MJ then called the hotel doc who was the one who gave him pain medication. Most likely without the knowledge of what MJ had received overnight. After that, MJ missed his call time. Frank Cascio went to his room and found him sleeping. It’s the truth and the story is vetted by *multiple* people. And *drowsiness* is a *side effect* of Demerol, smartypants. Many people sleep after receiving a dose of strong opioids.
